Shelter Seeks Home Sweet Home for “Bailey” (View video here)

“Bailey” is getting a lot of care and attention at the DeKalb Animal Shelter but what she really needs is a forever home!
This loveable one and a half year old Healer mix is the WJLE/DeKalb Animal Shelter featured “Pet of the Week”
“Bailey was found as a stray just roaming around. Some really nice people brought her in and we have had her spayed and micro-chipped. Bailey has been heart wormed, screened, and she is up to date on all her vaccinations. Bailey is great with people especially small kids but she is a little dominant when it comes to dogs. If you are interested in adopting her we ask you bring any other dogs you have just to see how they interact. Although she likes to be number one and in charge, Bailey is a sweet girl and really well behaved. She knows some tricks now and is very trainable. An all around very loveable good girl,” said Shelter employee Emmaly Bennett.
“If you are interested go to our website at https://www.dekalbanimalshelter.com/ and look for Bailey under the adoptable pet tab. Fill out that application and we will call you for an appointment to come in and meet her,” said Bennett.

Fellow Firefighters Called to Help One of Their Own
June 11, 2021

A DeKalb County Volunteer Firefighter who so often helps others during a fire call or some other emergency needed some help himself Tuesday after a fire broke out on his property at Old Dry Creek Road.
Herb Checci was at home when he heard a muffled explosion outside sounding like thunder but what he discovered when he looked outside was not a storm but a fire coming from the two sheds near the residence which house Checci’s small engine repair service.
Although Checci’s fellow firefighters were summoned and responded quickly, they could not save the sheds nor the contents. Wind blew flames toward Checci’s home only a few feet away and the heat from it caused siding damage to the exterior of the residence.
No one was injured. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
Members of the Liberty, Main Station, and Cookeville Highway Stations of the DeKalb County Fire Department responded along with DeKalb EMS and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.
