No Appointment Needed for COVID-19 Vaccine Administered by Health Department Today (Thursday) at Fairgrounds

The DeKalb Health Department will be offering the first dose of COVID vaccine for those age 18+ without an appointment today (Thursday, April 22) from 8-11am and from 1-6pm at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds in Alexandria. Vaccine appointments for other times will still be available at https://covid19.tn.gov/.




2021 DCHS Tiger Yearbook to be released soon

Yearbook advisers Mrs. Debi DePriest and Mrs. Donna Emmons and the DCHS Yearbook Staff are very excited to announce the upcoming publication of DCHS’s 2021 Yearbook, The Tiger.

“Our theme “Like Never Before” describes this year’s unique book, produced by our dedicated staff under the extreme circumstances that Covid precautions demanded. The yearbook has brand new features, and we are looking forward to Distribution Day (TBA) hopefully before the end of the school year. We still have a limited number of copies available for purchase,” said Mrs. DePriest.




Pedestrian Found with Meth In His Back Pack

A Dowelltown man arrested last week for failure to appear was found with 12.1 a grams of methamphetamine on him.

30 year old Casey Neville Belcher of Toad Road is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver. His bond is $10,000 and he will make a court appearance July 15.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said while on patrol last Wednesday, April 14 a deputy spotted Belcher wearing a backpack walking northbound on Short Mountain Street. Knowing that Belcher had active warrants against him for failure to appear, the officer stopped and placed him under arrest. Upon arrival at the sheriff’s department, Belcher informed the deputy that he had in the front pocket of his backpack about 10 grams of methamphetamine. A search of the bag revealed several small empty baggies and a black cylinder container which held two separate baggies of a clear crystal like substance which weighed about 12.1 grams.

41 year old Christopher Edward Stone of Sparta is charged with a violation of an order of protection. His bond is $2,500 and he will make a court appearance on May 13.

Sheriff Ray said that on Wednesday, April 14 a deputy accompanied a Department of Children Services social worker to a local residence where Stone was found to be with his wife and kids in violation of an active order of protection filed in Kentucky against him on December 29, 2020. Under the order, Stone is not supposed to have contact with his wife or the children. He admitted they had all been staying there together.

32 year old Kimberly Ann Blanchfield of Dowelltown is charged with violation of bond conditions and domestic assault. Her bond is $7,500 and she will be in court May 13.

Sheriff Ray said that on Friday, April 16 a deputy was summoned to a residence on Nashville Highway for a domestic. Upon arrival he spoke with a woman who said that her daughter, Blanchfield had assaulted her. The deputy noticed that the victim’s arms were scratched. The woman said Blanchfield had her pinned in the kitchen rendering her unable to call 911. The officer learned that Blanchfield is under bond conditions to keep away from this residence. However, she was there in a bedroom on the bed drinking Vodka.

25 year old Brandon Michael Shadden of Smithville is charged with public intoxication. He is under a $1,500 bond and his court date is May 13.

Sheriff Ray said that on Saturday, April 17 a deputy was dispatched to Fish Lipz Grill where an intoxicated man was reported to be causing problems in the restaurant by arguing with an employee and security guard. The deputy confronted the man, Shadden and found him to be unsteady on his feet. In fact he was unable to walk unassisted. He was placed under arrest.

52 year old Michael Lynn Vance of Highland Street, Smithville is cited for a second offense of driving on a suspended license, violation of the registration and open container laws, no insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. His court date is May 13.

Sheriff Ray said that while patrolling on East Bryant Street, a deputy spotted a black Blazer with no license plate. He pulled over the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Vance. He admitted to having no insurance, no license plate, nor a driver license. He also had an open container of alcohol in the automobile. The officer received consent to search and found three scales, a grinder, and pipes.

24 year old Olivia Hope Barber of Foster Road, Smithville is cited for simple possession of a schedule III drug and drug paraphernalia as well as failure to maintain lane of travel.

Sheriff Ray said that on Sunday, April 18 a vehicle, driven by Barber, partially crossed over in the turning lane before returning to her lane. A deputy pulled her over and after being given consent to search found needles and a yellow pill. Her court date is May 6.
