Catch Tom Tippin on WJLE’s Jammin’ at the 428 Friday Morning

Tom Tippin will be the featured artist on “Jammin’ at the 428” Friday morning on WJLE.

The program will air at 8:30 a.m. following the “Old Time Country Community Radio Show”

Jim Hicks, the host of the show, will interview Tippin and showcase his music on the program.

“We had a great time doing the show with Tom. It’s just a matter of time before this young man puts his mark on music. What a talented songwriter and singer he is,” said Hicks.

Tippin records at Rick Scruggs’ Studio in Smithville, also known as the 428.

Dewain Hendrixson Back Out Front Among WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters (Show Airs Today at 4:30 p.m.)

Dewain Hendrixson has overtaken Chad Kirby as leader of WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters picking winners after the ninth week of the college football season.

Hendrixson now has the best overall record at 86-49 followed in second place by Darrell Gill at 85-50. Chad Kirby has dropped to third place at 84-51. The James Gang (Grant and Jeff James) has a record of 82-53, the guests record is 81-54, John Pryor 79-56, Jacob Parsley 78-57, Ricky Atnip 77-58, Scott Brown and Will Graham 76-59, and Jared Davis 75-60

For the week, Dewain Hendrixson, the James Gang, and Scott Brown each went 10-5. Darrell Gill, John Pryor, Will Graham, and the guest Johnny Barnes were each at 9-6, Jacob Parsley and Jared Davis each went 8-7, and Ricky Atnip and Chad Kirby each compiled a record of 7-8.

Five of the forecasters hit their underdog picks last week. The James Gang picked up 10.5 points with Kentucky’s upset of Missouri 29-7. Jacob Parsley added 4 points to his total as UCLA defeated Arizona State 42-32. Ricky Atnip got 10.5 points with Oklahoma State’s win over Iowa State 34-27. Chad Kirby got on the board with 1 point as Michigan upended Notre Dame 45-14, and Dewain Hendrixson got 4.5 points with Tennessee’s upset of South Carolina 41-21.

Jared Davis remains the overall underdog points leader with 38 followed by Scott Brown 29.5. Jacob Parsley and Dewain Hendrixson each have 24 points. The James Gang has 21 points, Darrell Gill 19, Ricky Atnip and the Guests 14.5, John Pryor 7.5, Will Graham 7, and Chad Kirby with 1 point.

Today (Thursday) the Forecasters will be picking winners in the following games:

Oregon at USC, Kansas State at Kansas, SMU at Memphis, Utah at Washington, Miami at Florida State, TCU at Oklahoma State, Virginia at North Carolina, Colorado at UCLA, Boston College at Syracuse, FAU at Western Kentucky, Mississippi State at Arkansas, Georgia versus Florida, Vanderbilt at South Carolina, UAB at Tennessee, and in the NFL the Tennessee Titans at the Carolina Panthers.

Today’s special guest is Dan Delacruz of Smithville Computer.

Jason Brown to Run for Constable in Sixth District

Jason Brown is the latest to add his name to the list of constable candidates for the March 3 DeKalb County Democratic Primary.

Brown picked up his qualifying petition Wednesday from the Election Commission to run for constable in the sixth district.

Constables in all seven districts of the county and an Assessor of Property will be elected in 2020.

Democrats for these positions will be seeking the nomination of their party on March 3. Winners will face Republican nominees and possibly Independents in the August General Election.
