By: Dwayne Page
A Sparta man who left the scene of a single vehicle crash Saturday night was later found and placed under arrest.
33 year old Peter Alexander Jensen of Sparta is charged with driving under the influence and accident resulting in damage-hit and run. His bond is $5,000 and he will make a court appearance January 31.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on Saturday, January 19 a deputy was called to Sparta Highway due to a crash. Upon arrival the officer learned that the driver had left the scene in a silver vehicle. The deputy began a search and found the man, Jensen in the vehicle at the White County line in DeKalb County. Jensen had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and his eyes were glassy. He would not answer the officer’s questions. Jenson also refused to submit to field sobriety tasks. The officer obtained a search warrant to perform a blood alcohol test on Jensen. He was brought to the jail for booking.
47 year old Marcus John Peregoy of Hodges Road, Smithville is cited for simple possession of a schedule III drug (Buprenorphine) or Subutex. His court date is January 31.
Sheriff Ray said that on January 14 while conducting a pat down search of Peregoy after arresting him on a warrant from Warren County, an officer found three pills and a crusher on Peregoy
