A man and his mother have been charged with resisting arrest during an episode with officers at their Four Seasons Road Home last week.

41-year-old John Brent Williams of Four Seasons Road, in addition to the resisting offense, is charged with one count of assaulting a first responder. His bond is $18,500. His mother, 61-year-old Cheryl Denise Williams is charged with two counts of resisting. Her bond is $7,000. Both mother and son will appear in court January 19.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on January 2 a deputy was summoned to the Williams home on Four Seasons Road due to a theft investigation. Upon arrival he confronted Williams who, according to the officer, was very irate and approached him in an aggressive manner. Williams continued to aggressively move toward to the deputy even after being warned several times to step back. The officer then grabbed Williams trying to detain him and during the struggle Williams struck the deputy on the left side of his face and scratched his left pinky finger. Needing backup, the deputy radioed for emergency assistance and other officers arrived on the scene. Upon entering the home, detectives found the arresting officer engaged in a physical struggle with John Williams. As they intervened, Cheryl Williams approached the officers and refused their commands to step back. At one point a detective guided Ms. Williams to another room as she resisted, and Ms. Williams later approached the officers again as they were trying to arrest her son. Ms Williams was then escorted outside the home and taken to the ground and handcuffed as she continued to resist.

A prisoner has been charged with assaulting a correctional officer.

In addition to the assault offense, 27-year-old Christopher Keith Lane Derrick of Floyd Drive, Smithville is also charged with escape. His bond is $9,000 and he will be in court January 29.

Sheriff Ray said that on December 19 Derrick had been taking a shower when he left his jail annex cell dormitory without permission and ran toward officers in the foyer of the facility where they were collecting food trays and struck one of them on the left side of his face with a closed fist.

34-year-old Maranda Rose Smith is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver and driving on a revoked license. Her bond is $8,000 and she will make a court appearance on January 19.

Sheriff Ray said that on January 6 a deputy pulled over Smith in a white Chevy Lumina during a traffic stop and found on her a yellow bag containing a clear crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine weighing 1.5 grams. A background check through central dispatch revealed that her driver license was revoked.

62-year-old Donald Wayne Gray of Lebanon is charged with driving under the influence. His bond is $1,500 and he will be in court January 26.

Sheriff Ray said that on January 6 a deputy was summoned to Nashville Highway due to a reckless driver. The officer spotted a black Chevy Silverado and noticed that it failed to maintain its lane of travel. He pulled over the truck and spoke and the driver, Gray whose eyes were red and glassy. His speech was slurred, and he smelled of marijuana. Gray was also unsteady on his feet. He submitted to field sobriety tasks but performed poorly.

25-year-old Kelsey Nicole Braswell of McMinnville is charged with resisting arrest. Her bond is $3,000 and she will be in court January 26.

Sheriff Ray said that on January 6 a deputy responded to a residence on Cove Hollow Circle where a woman was reported to be possibly suicidal. Upon arrival the officer spoke with Braswell who said she did not want to harm herself or anyone else. A background check through the Warren County Sheriff’s Department revealed that an active warrant for her arrest was on file there. As she was being placed under arrest, Braswell resisted commands to place her hands behind her back to be handcuffed. Reasonable force was used to arrest her.
