Director of Schools Names Support Staff for 2021-22

Director of Schools Patrick Cripps has employed the 166 support staff for the 2021-2022 school year.

The personnel report was submitted to the Board of Education during Thursday night’s regular monthly meeting.

Those employed at DeKalb County High School are:

Chamber Free Outdoor Movie Event Moving Indoors Saturday Night

It had been planned as an outdoor event but the Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce FREE Movie Night will be held indoors Saturday night at the Smithville First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center.

The Chamber and the Church are partnering to present the family-friendly movie, “The Sandlot” starting at 8 p.m.

To get the fun started, Infinity Athletics will sponsor a game of whiffle ball in a field beside the church beginning at 7 PM.

FREE Hot Dogs, Popcorn, and Other Snacks will also be provided by Smithville First Baptist Church.

The Chamber FREE Spring Movie Night Event is sponsored by Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital and Middle Tennessee Natural Gas.




Savage-Goodner SCV Camp to Host Instruction on Proper Cleaning and Maintenance of Gravestones and Memorials

The Savage-Goodner Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans will provide instruction free of charge on the proper cleaning and maintenance of grave stones and memorials on Thursday, June 10 at 6:30 p.m. This event will be held in the Smithville Town Cemetery on North Congress Blvd. The public is invited. Common cleaning products and methods can be destructive to granite and marble stones. Come to this one hour class taught by certified instructors to learn approved methods and materials in preserving our family memorials.
