DCHS Tennis Teams Win Against White County

Both the Boys and Girls DCHS tennis teams won their matches against White County on Tuesday afternoon. The boys won their match 7 – 2 while the girls won 6 – 3. Tennis matches consist of six singles matches and three doubles matches. Scores are below.

Ribbon Cutting April 24th for New Alexandria Playground

County Mayor Tim Stribling and Chamber Director Suzanne Williams are excited to announce that the new Alexandria Community Park Playground equipment is in place and ready for use. Everyone is invited to attend the special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to be held on Saturday, April 24th at 10:00 AM at the Alexandria Community Park.
“Thanks to DeKalb County being awarded a Three Star Grant sponsored by the TN Department of Economic & Community Development, the new playground equipment has been installed and is already being enjoyed by many local children,” says Suzanne Williams, writer, administrator, and consultant for the grant. “A big thank you to UT/TSU Extension Agent April Martin who headed up the Alexandria Community Park Playground Committee, County Mayor Tim Stribling, Alexandria Mayor Bennett Armstrong, Alexandria City Recorder Elizabeth Tetlow, Alexandria City Council, DeKalb County Commission, as well as all of the Alexandria moms and other local volunteers who provided their time, enthusiasm, and valuable input on the playground design. Everyone has worked and partnered together so well to bring this project to its positive result!” In addition, Smithville Fire Chief Charlie Parker will be working with the Alexandria Fire Department to get new roping attached the existing Alexandria Park flagpole to have ready for Woodmen of the World representative, Tim Bumbalough, who is donating a new flag.
The Alexandria Volunteer group is currently in the process of raising an additional $10,000 in funds to purchase swing sets, park benches, picnic tables, and other needed playground improvements. County Mayor Stribling says, “We are so grateful for the Tennessee Three Star program that supports and assists us as we work together to maximize our local assets. The new Alexandria Playground will be a great enhancement for DeKalb County and a fun place for families to visit and enjoy for years to come.”
The Alexandria Community Park Playground area is located at 102 Fairgrounds Road, Alexandria behind the DeKalb County Fairgrounds.
Tennessee Three Star Director, Jody Sliger, plans to attend the Ribbon Cutting to see the project and to congratulate everyone on its success. Three Star is a strategic community development program developed to promote economic and community prosperity through collaboration and to assist communities in preparing for a better future.
A DCHS Project Graduation Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show Set for April 3

A car, truck, and motorcycle show will be held to benefit the DCHS Class of 2021 Project Graduation event on Saturday, April 3 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. at DeKalb County High School.
All funds raised will go to Project Graduation, an all night drug-free, alcohol-free graduation party for members of the DCHS Class of 2021 committed to having a safe, wholesome, yet entertaining celebration together for the last time as a class. This year’s event will be held at the County Complex.
The show will feature top 25 People’s Choice Awards, Best of Show, the DCHS Class of 2021 Seniors Pick, and Most Unique Pick. There will be more than 40 vendors and plenty of food, face painting, plus much more including a DJ. Vendors must sign up by March 29.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. with judging at noon and awards to be presented at 3 p.m.
