County Firefighter Graduates from State LIVE Burn Training Class

Keith Carter, a member of the DeKalb County Fire Department graduated from the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Training Academy’s Live Burn Firefighter I class held Saturday and Sunday, March 13th and 14th.
Captain Brian Williams said this 16-hour course requires students to demonstrate skills needed to extinguish a passenger vehicle fire attack, exterior Class A fire attack, interior structure fire attack, commercial buildings and ground cover fire attack.
“We are extremely proud of this recent graduate. Today, our department stands better prepared to respond to emergencies because of the high standards for training we set for our firefighters,” said Captain Williams.
UCDD Offers SNAP Application Assistance

Upper Cumberland Area Agency on Aging and Disability (UCAAAD) is now offering application assistance with “SNAP”, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program for adults 60 and over or individuals with a disability. The USDA created SNAP to provide eligible individuals with monthly benefits to buy food.
According to the National Council on Aging (NCOA), SNAP is a good investment and can improve health outcomes of food insecure seniors. SNAP stimulates the economy with every $1 in additional SNAP benefits generates $1.73 in local economic activity.
The Upper Cumberland region includes Cannon, Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, Warren, White counties. If you know someone 60 and over or an individual with a disability, they may qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
Applicants 60 and over or an individual with a disability can now call UCAAAD SNAP Benefits Coordinator, Miranda Malin, at 931-319-7991 for free and confidential application assistance.

Jeffery Michael Hodges, wanted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and other agencies, was taken into custody this morning (Tuesday, March 16) at approximately 12:30 a.m. by the WCSD. Also arrested was a female that was charged with accessory after the fact for aiding Hodges in eluding and avoiding apprehension.
Hodges wanted for car burglaries and thefts in Warren and Coffee Counties and has been connected to car burglaries in other counties as well. He is believed to have stolen multiple firearms from vehicles along with other items.
