Wilson Bank & Trust Helping DCHS Athletic Programs Beef Up Their Weight Room

DCHS is beefing up its weight room for several athletic programs thanks to a little help from friends at Wilson Bank & Trust.

Coaches from the DCHS basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer programs on Monday personally thanked Chad Colwell of Wilson Bank & Trust for the bank’s funding of the weight room renovation

“We are here to thank Chad Colwell and Wilson Bank & Trust for the big donation they have made to the athletic programs to help us renovate our weight room and get new equipment. Thanks to them we are refurbishing our weight room and getting it up to par. It is still a work in progress.  We will be adding rubber stall mats throughout the floor, new rubber bumper plates and bars,  a rig to do pull ups and squats with 4-6 stations, new benches and other machines sports specific. We are slowing moving things around and getting them to where they need to be and its going to be nice once we get done,” said Tiger Basketball Coach John Sanders.

When the football program built a new field house, it also got new weight room equipment which freed up the older field house and weight room for other athletic programs to use

“I coach two sports so we pretty much lift weights from August to May and to have it up to par with other programs and other schools is really special. I don’t think that weight room has been redone since 1994. We were using benches that had duct tape on them. As small revenue sports, its hard for our programs to raise the money to purchase newer equipment like this so we are happy to have this partnership with Wilson Bank and Trust,” added Tiger Basketball and Tigerette Softball Coach Danny Fish

“It’s a great opportunity for us. That is part of what we do. We give back to the community. We have been blessed. They (community) give to us and we give back. The great thing about this is that it benefits so many and it will be used for years to come. Its great to have a workout program and facilities of this kind for a county of our size. It will benefit a lot of kids as they come through the program,” said Colwell.
