DeKalb County Quarterback Axel Aldino threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more TD’s in leading the Tigers to a 33-0 victory over the Stone Memorial Panthers Friday night. It was the first home game of the season for the Tigers, their first victory and region win of the year, and the Tiger defense’s first shutout in 2019.
DeKalb County is now 1-2 (1-0) on the season. Stone Memorial slips to 1-2 (0-1).
For almost the entire first half the Tigers and Panthers were locked in a scoreless tie. But on the last play, DC’s Desmond Nokes scored on a 34 yard pass play from quarterback Axel Aldino to give the Tigers a 7-0 halftime lead after the PAT by Alan Munoz.
The Tigers struck again on another big play with 10:07 left in the 3rd period as Aldino found Alan Munoz on a 48 yard touchdown pass play. Munoz tacked on the extra point to give DeKalb County a 14-0 lead.
The Tigers extended their lead with 4:37 left in the 3rd period on a 4 yard touchdown run by Aldino. The PAT attempt by Munoz was no good but DeKalb County led 20-0.
After an Isaac Knowles interception, his second of the game, the Tigers drove for another score. Nathaniel Crook crossed the goal line on a 3 yard touchdown run with 11:23 left in the 4th period. Munoz converted the PAT and the Tigers led 27-0.
Aldino added another touchdown with 6:41 left in the game on a 16 yard run. The PAT try by Munoz was no good but DeKalb County led and went on to win 33-0.
