Two people walked away with $500 cash at the DeKalb County Fair Monday night.

Mevolyn Farless and Joseph Pack had the winning tickets during the drawing on opening night of the fair.
Tonight’s cash drawing will be at the Lion’s Club Pavilion at 9:30 p.m. You must be present to win. Any cash not claimed during the week will be given away Saturday night.

The Tuesday night line-up of activities at the fair is as follows
Tuesday, July 16:
*Poultry Show: 6:00 p.m. at the Tot Kelly Barn
*Little Mister for contestants ages 4-6: 6:00 p.m. at the Lions Club Pavilion
*Little Miss for contestants ages 4-6 following the Little Mister Pageant
*Demolition Derby: 7:00 p.m. at the T.C. McMillen Arena
*Corn Hole Tournament: 7:00 p.m.
*Cash Drawing-9:30 p.m. at the Lions Club Pavilion
Memory Lane Stage sponsored by Wilson Bank & Trust
Tuesday, July 16: 6:30 p.m.- Dessa Ray
Rides on the Midway will be provided by Prime Time Amusement. Unlimited rides will be available for $16.00 on Tuesday night; $14.00 on Wednesday and $18.00 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
See the exhibits on the fairgrounds including inside the Kenneth Sandlin Center and the Commercial Building.
Admission to the fair is $5.00 per person. Children age four and younger will be admitted free! Gates open at 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The exhibit building is open from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Parking is Free!

Destiny Danielle Franklin Is the 2019 Fairest of the Fair

20 year old Destiny Danielle Franklin is the 2019 DeKalb County Fairest of the Fair. She was also named Most Photogenic.
Franklin, daughter of Jennifer and Charlie Ware of Smithville, won the crown Monday evening during the annual pageant held on opening night of the DeKalb County Fair in Alexandria.
She succeeds the retiring queen, 18 year old Abigail Hope Taylor, daughter of Ken and Cindy Taylor of Smithville.
Franklin will represent the DeKalb County Fair in the state pageant.

The 2019 Junior Fair Princess of the DeKalb County Fair is Addison Jean Puckett, 15 year old daughter of Jimmy and Anita Puckett of Smithville.
She succeeds the 2018 Junior Fair Princess, Kenlee Renae Taylor, the 14 year old daughter of Ken and Cindy Taylor of Smithville.
Puckett was among five young ladies ages 13-16 who competed for the crown on the opening night of the DeKalb County Fair Monday.
The first runner-up was Leah Brooke Davis, 16 year old daughter of Kerry and Glenda Davis of Smithville. She was also named Miss Congeniality and Most Photogenic.
Second runner-up was Graci Lynn Starnes, 15 year old daughter of Joelle Starnes of Smithville.
Mackenzie Leigh Sprague was third runner-up. She is the 15 year old daughter of Wanda Sprague of Smithville.
The fourth runner-up was Kailey Evangaline Herron, 14 year old daughter of Greg Herron, Jr. and Krista Mahaney of Smithville.
