Daniel Stanley has been found and is back with his family.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said Stanley, age 40 who has Huntington’s disease, was spotted at the intersection of Old Blue Springs Road and Turner Road this morning (Tuesday) walking toward Highway 56. He was found by deputies minutes later at Mystik Market on McMinnville Highway in the Shiney Rock area.
Stanley had been missing since around 10:20 a.m. Monday morning after he walked away from his home at 895 Blue Springs Road.
“The call came in at 8:13 am this morning (Tuesday) from a witness saying a man fitting the description of Stanley was walking on Old Blue Springs Road at Turner Road heading toward Highway 56. Officers were dispatched and found him at Mystik Market sitting in a chair. Stanley said he had been out in the woods,” said Sheriff Ray.
After the family notified the sheriff’s department of Stanley’s disappearance Monday a search began. A THP helicopter with a fleer heat seeking device was flown in overnight to conduct an aerial search but could not locate Stanley mainly because of the heavy foilage.
Members of the Smithville-DeKalb County Rescue Squad were lined up to expand the search this morning had Stanley not been found.
Sheriff Ray wishes to thank all those involved in the search effort including the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

A suspected drug dealer was caught with narcotics during a probation search last Thursday.
23 year old Thomas Braxton Nix of Morgan Drive, Smithville is charged with four counts of sale and delivery of drugs including a schedule II (methamphetamine), schedule III (suboxone), schedule IV (xanax) and a schedule VI (marijuana). He was further cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and charged with bringing contraband in a penal institution. Nix’s bond totals $57,500 and his next court appearance will be May 9. He will be in court on the contraband offense May 16.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on Thursday, May 2 a detective was called to a residence on Morgan Drive to assist with a probation search where Nix was found with 5.5 grams of a white crystal like substance believed to be methamphetamine; 32 white bars believed to be xanax; 2.8 ounces of marijuana; and 38 pink pills thought to be suboxone. The probation search also turned up a set of scales and baggies normally used in the packaging and selling of drugs.
After being brought to the jail for booking, Nix was found with more drugs on him.
“As a correctional officer was escorting him to the pat down room to be searched Nix was asked if he had anything on him for which he could be charged. Nix replied no. Nix was placed in a holding cell and property on him was taken to the booking room to be locked. Upon a search of Nix’s wallet a small baggie was found containing an unidentified white pill and in the corner of the wallet were three small yellow pills believed to be dilaudid,” said Sheriff Ray.
