DCHS Bass Team Reels in First Win of Season

The DeKalb County High School Bass team reeled in its first win of the season. Eighty-five boats competed in the tournament this past Saturday on Center Hill Lake. Nine of the boats represented the new D.C.H.S. club.

The team of Morgan Clifton and Braden Martin placed third with five fish that weighed 7. 92 pounds. Their prize was a check for $262.00 and a $25 gift card.  Another team boasting two girls won a $25 gift card.

“The weather was not the best,” says Team Sponsor Kim Young. “It was very hot and a little breezy.”

Each boat had an adult captain accompanying the team. “We would like to thank all our captains that came out this Saturday,” says Young. “We would also like to thank the community for all of their support. It takes a great effort to start a new club at D.C.H.S. We look forward to future tournaments.”

DCHS Golfers Isaac Walker and Anna Chew are headed for the state tournament next week after their regional tournament performances in Cleveland on Monday.

Walker shot a 76 for a second place finish in the tournament among 39 golfers.

Chew finished in third place out of 27 female golfers with a score of 81.

The state tournament will be played at Willowbrook Country Club near Manchester next Tuesday and Wednesday.

A 33 year old Woodbury man is charged with burglary and theft at DeKalb West School last week and taking items worth $16.50.

Robert Anthony Taylor is under a $6,500 bond and his court date is September 27.

According to the warrant, Taylor admitted to entering the school on Monday, September 10 and taking a bag of chips, sport drink, T-shirt, and $5.00. The total value of the items taken came to $16.50
