In his latest report on crime news, Sheriff Patrick Ray reported Monday that 56-year-old Buddy Gene Williams of Murfreesboro is charged with violation of an order of protection. His bond is $7,500 and he will be in court January 4.

Sheriff Ray said that on December 11 Williams violated an order of protection against him by trying to contact and threaten the woman (protected person) that he was ordered to keep away from.

According to Sheriff Ray, Williams contacted a business in Alexandria to speak to the protected person. When told she wasn’t working at the time, Williams advised the employees to tell her that he would burn down her house that night.

38-year-old Jose Elias Tejeda of Allen Street, Smithville is charged with aggravated assault. His bond is $7,500 and he will be in court January 4.

Sheriff Ray said that on December 12 Tejeda allegedly intentionally and knowingly tried to strangle another person.

Looking for a couple of cuddly cats in time for Christmas?

How about “Tiger” and “Goldie”? The WJLE/DeKalb Animal Shelter featured “Pets of the Week.”

“Tiger and Goldie are a bonded pair. Their owner passed away,” said Cathy Bader with the Friends of the DeKalb Animal Shelter. “Tiger and Goldie are about four years old, and they very much need each other to be content. They have been neutered and spayed and are up to date on all their shots. We would love to find them a wonderful home for Christmas. Because they are a bonded pair they will have a special adoption fee,” said Bader.

“They are great cats and are good with other animals. They grew up in a home with dogs. They came in with four other cats and they are good with children,” said shelter volunteer Amy Kitchen.

“If you are interested in adopting Tiger and Goldie, please check out the adoptable pet’s link on our website to fill out an application at https://www.dekalbanimalsheltertn.com/ and we will call you to come in and meet them,” said Bader.

The shelter is open Monday-Friday from 8 to 4 and Saturday from 8 to 12 at 186 Transfer Station Road. Phone 615-597-3647.

Meanwhile the DeKalb Animal Shelter is selling long sleeved Christmas shirts for $23 as a fundraiser. The shirts are available in several sizes.
