God’s Food Pantry Closed Today (Friday) but will be open Saturday

Gods’ Food Pantry at 430 East Broad Street will be closed today (Friday, February 4) due to the weather but will be open Saturday, February 5 from1-4 p.m. for food distribution.
Pioneers knock off Tigers and Lady Tigers

The DeKalb County High School basketball teams were defeated by their border rivals from Warren County Thursday night in Smithville losing 65 to 58 in the girls game and 58 to 52 in the boys contest.
The Tigers are now 12-12 on the season and the Lady Tigers are 15-11. In the previous meeting on November 26 at McMinnville the Tigers lost to the Pioneers 79 to 64 and the Lady Tigers fell 52 to 35.
The Lady Tigers led 13 to 12 after the 1st period Thursday night but then fell behind 41 to 29 by halftime and 52 to 45 after the 3rd period before losing 65 to 58.
Ella VanVranken scored 23 followed by Kadee Ferrell 15, Avery Agee 12, Madison Martin 4 and Cam Branin and Ally Fuller each with 2.
The Tigers led 14 to 9 after the 1st period and 30 to 27 at halftime but trailed 44 to 36 after the 3rd period and lost 58 to 52.
Elishah Ramos, Stetson Agee, and Conner Close each scored 14, Robert Wheeler 5, Isaac Knowles 3, and Jordan Young with 2.
DeKalb County will close out the regular season next week with Senior Night at home against Cumberland County on Tuesday, February 8 and at Upperman on Friday, February 11. Action begins each night with the girls game at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
DCHS to Host Warren County Tonight (Thursday) after Winning at Macon County Tuesday Night

The DCHS basketball teams went to Lafayette Tuesday night where they defeated Macon County in both the girls and boys games.
The Lady Tigers opened with a 49 to 27 victory while the Tigers claimed a 50 to 45 win.
In the girls game, DC led 11 to 10 after the 1st period, 21 to 15 at halftime, and 32 to 24 after the 3rd period before going on to win 49 to 27.
Ella VanVranken scored 18, Kadee Ferrell 16, Avery Agee and Madison Martin each with 6, Ella Hendrixson 2, and Xharia Lyons with 1.
In the previous meeting on January 20 the Lady Tigers beat Macon County 59 to 32.
For the boys, the Tigers trailed Macon County 17 to 6 after the 1st period Tuesday night and found themselves down 26 to 22 by halftime but rallied to grab a 36 to 34 lead after the 3rd period and went on to win 50 to 45.

In the January 20 meeting, DC won 67 to 49.
The Tigers are now 12-11 overall and 4-6 in the district while the Lady Tigers improve to 15-10 and go to 4-6 in district play.
DeKalb County will host Warren County Thursday night, February 3 in Smithville. The girls game tips off at 6 p.m. followed by the boys game. WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
