DeKalb 911 Invites Residents to Take Advantage of “Premises Notes” Service

The DeKalb County Emergency Communications District (E911) is offering a “premises notes” service to better serve the elderly, disabled, and persons with special needs or circumstances.
Residents with “premises notes” added to their address in the 911 database provide more information to responders when an emergency or non-emergency call is dispatched to that address.
“We dispatch by a computer aid dispatch system also known as CAD and one of the features of our CAD system is we have the ability to add to addresses of residents in our county what are known as “premise notes”. These notes allow us to better assist the public but also our emergency responders when they are dispatched out on an emergency or non-emergency call or just a simple public assist,” said DeKalb 911 Director Brad Mullinax.
“I want to offer this to our community as a way to get some information in to the 911 center that we can add to our database. We are especially looking to serve our elderly and disabled population and those with any kind of special needs, persons needing assistance, or just an average citizen with a special circumstance that public safety or emergency responders should know about. If we have that information we can add that to your address,” said DeKalb 911 Director Brad Mullinax
“Examples of things we are looking for are gate codes. If you have a private driveway that a responder would need a gate code to access your property or if you live alone and have a hidden key location that an emergency responder or police officer would need to gain access to your house, it would be helpful to add that information as a “premises note” to your address in our system,” he said.
“Contact information like a key holder or next of kin could be included. We have had folks do that in the past. Any kind of special medical information like oxygen use or concentrators or anything like that at home would be good for us to know as well as any kind of hazard that you may have at your residence or business such as dangerous chemicals, large amounts of fuel, or maybe an aggressive animal. That information would be beneficial to our emergency responders,” said Mullinax.
If you would like to add “premises notes” to your address please send that information and your address by email to dekalb911@gmail.com.
“ Although we prefer that you send your information by email a special phone line has been set up with voice mail that the public may call and leave a message but it is not manned. Just leave the information you want added and your address and we will put it in the database. That phone number is 615-597-8364,” said Mullinax.
