WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters College Football Talk Show Airs Today (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m.

Jared Davis is now the leader on WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters panel picking winners as the college football season enters its 10th week.

Davis has an overall record of 86-49.

Jared Davis had the best single week record last week at 11-4 followed by John Pryor 10-5, Scott Brown and Chad Kirby each at 9-6, Grant James and Scott Goodwin each at 7-8, and Eli Gill and Ricky Atnip each at 6-9.

Overall, Chad Kirby remains second place after nine weeks at 85-50 followed by Grant James 84-51, Scott Brown 80-55, Ricky Atnip 79-56, John Pryor 78-57, and Eli Gill and Scott Goodwin each at 77-58.

Three of the Forecasters hit their underdog picks last week. Ricky Atnip picked up 7 points with West Virginia’s upset win over Iowa State 38-31. Scott Brown added 4.5 points to his total as Michigan State defeated Michigan 37-33 and Jared Davis expanded his lead with 9 points as Miami beat Pittsburgh 38-34.

Jared Davis maintains his lead for the most underdog points after nine weeks at 44 followed by Ricky Atnip 26, Chad Kirby 17.5, Scott Brown 11.5, Grant James 9.5, Eli Gill 7, John Pryor 5.5, and Scott Goodwin 3.5 points

Today (Thursday) the Forecasters will be picking winners in the following games:

SMU at Memphis, Penn State at Maryland, Michigan State at Purdue, Army at Air Force, Marshall at FAU, Clemson at Louisville, Texas at Iowa State, Wake Forest at North Carolina, Oklahoma State at West Virginia, Baylor at TCU, LSU at Alabama, Auburn at Texas A&M, Mississippi State at Arkansas, Tennessee at Kentucky, and in the NFL the Tennessee Titans at the L.A. Rams.

DeKalb Health Department to Host Free Flu Shot Event

DeKalb County Health Department will hold a special “FightFluTN” event November 9 to provide flu shots at no charge to increase the number of people vaccinated against influenza in Tennessee. The Tennessee Department of Health urges all Tennesseans ages six months and older who have not yet received a flu shot this flu season to get one as soon as possible.

DeKalb County Health Department will be offering free flu vaccines on November 9th from 8:30am- 5:30pm at the DeKalb County Courthouse, 1 Public Sq. Smithville, TN 37166

No appointments are needed to get a flu shot during these events.

Smithville Mayor Josh Miller to Seek Re-election in 2022

Smithville Mayor Josh Miller has announced his candidacy for re-election in the August, 2022 Municipal Election.

Miller was first elected to mayor in 2018. The term of mayor is four years. Prior to becoming mayor, Miller served two terms and five years as alderman.

The following is Mayor Miller’s announcement for re-election:

“First of all I want to thank the City of Smithville for giving me the chance to serve you. I would also like to thank my family for their support as well. First as a city council member and now as mayor. Being mayor is an honor of a lifetime. I try to serve the city to the best of my ability. I have given a lot of thought and prayer in seeking re-election. I believe the city has made great strides the last few years. I have been blessed with a great council and great employees. I believe it is very important and crucial to surround yourself with good people. I would like to ask for your support in the City of Smithville Mayor election in August, 2022. It would be a great honor to serve for another term,” said Mayor Miller.
