Man Found Living in Vacant Apartment Arrested Twice for Criminal Trespassing

A man who took up residence in a vacant apartment without authorization has been charged twice by Smithville Police with criminal trespassing.
34 year old Michael Pierre Rose of 167 Kings Court Circle was first arrested on February 2. Police responded to South Fork Apartments at 530 Miller Road and learned that Rose had been staying in an empty room that was vacant. Rose was found lying on a cot in the back bedroom. He didn’t have consent to be there. According to the apartment manager this wasn’t the first time he has had issues with Rose being on the property without consent. Rose was taken into custody without incident. His bond was set at $1,500.
Five days later police were called back to the apartment complex after Rose returned. At approximately 8:59 am on February 7 officers located Rose in apartment #12. Rose was ordered to leave and stay off the property but he returned again to the same apartment at approximately 10:30 am. Rose was then arrested but he did not comply when told to put his hands behind his back for handcuffing. Rose resisted by pulling away from the officers. After being taken to the ground, Rose began following the officers’ orders and was handcuffed without further incident. His bond for this charge is $6,500..His court date for both offenses is February 21.
42 year-old Jimmy Layne Estes was arrested on February 8 for violation of an order of protection. Estes was served with the order on February 6 to keep away from the residence at 630 Highland Street but two days later officers found him there and placed him under arrest. Bond for Estes is $3,000 and his court date is February 21.
23 year old Samuel Dylan Giles of 655 West Main Street was arrested on February 2 for DUI. Police responded to 246 Jacobs Pillar Road due to a vehicle that had run through a fence there. During an investigation, the officer was informed that the driver, Giles had lost control of the vehicle after his hands became numb. While speaking with Giles the officer detected an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The officer also learned that Giles had consumed 3 or 4 beers prior to the accident. Giles submitted to but performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. He was then taken into custody without incident. Bond for Giles is $1,500 and his court date is February 21.
33 year old Steven Hunter Pugh of Sparta was arrested February 2 for a 3rd offense of driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, and he was cited for violation of implied consent. Police responded to a complaint of a reckless driver in the area of Jacobs Pillar Road and South Mountain Street and spotted the vehicle. After pulling it over, the officer spoke with the driver, Pugh and noticed that he appeared to be nervous. He also spotted an orange colored pill lying between Pugh’s legs on the seat. Pugh was asked to exit the vehicle so that the officer could retrieve the pill. While Pugh said he was not under the influence of drugs, police were informed that he had allegedly smoked some marijuana and taken suboxone earlier. Pugh submitted to field sobriety tasks but performed poorly. A computer check through Central Dispatch revealed that Pugh ‘s driver license were revoked for a DUI conviction in 2009 and 2014. After Pugh refused to submit to a blood test, the officer obtained a blood search warrant. Pugh was then taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Bond for Pugh is $6,000 and his court date is February 21.
Three Arrested on Alcohol Related Charges After Pickup Truck Crash

Three people were arrested on alcohol related charges last week after being involved in a pickup truck crash on Ferrell Road.
21 year old Chase Lee Turner of AB Frazier Road, Smithville is charged with driving under the influence while 23 year old Johnnie Wayne Horton and 23 year old Amanda Dawn Shaffer both of Students Home Road, Smithville are each charged with public intoxication. Turner’s bond is $2,000 and he will make a court appearance on April 18. Bond for Horton and Shaffer is $1,500 each and their court date is February 21.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on February 4 a deputy was dispatched to Ferrell Road due to a possible wreck. Upon arrival he saw three people, Horton, Shaffer, and Turner walking in the roadway. All three were very unsteady on their feet and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from their persons.
Turner admitted to having driven the pickup truck involved in the wreck. He refused to submit to field sobriety tasks.
Tittle Faces More Charges in Mini-Storage Burglary and Theft Investigation

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department has filed more charges against a Liberty man who was arrested last month in a rash of October burglaries, thefts, and vandalisms at Liberty Mini Storage. Seven victims were impacted by the crimes.
49 year old Randall Eugene Tittle of Tubb Street, Liberty is charged in the latest case with one count of burglary and theft. His bond is $25,000 and his court date is February 21.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on October 15, 2018 Tittle broke into a storage building at Liberty Mini-Storage and stole a black Huskee tool box and tools valued at $15,000. The case was investigated by a sheriff’s department detective. Some of the tools have been recovered.
Altogether, Tittle faces three counts of vandalism, six counts of burglary, and six counts of theft.
All the other crimes also occurred on October 15 as follows:
*Tittle cut two locks off the doors at Liberty Mini Storage valued at $20.
*Tittle cut two locks off the doors of a storage building and entered. He stole from the victim multiple items such as gas top stove, air conditioner, generator, and NASCAR Christmas collector items, all valued at $7,600.
*Tittle cut one lock off the doors of a storage building and entered. He stole from the victim multiple items such as 2 window air conditioner units, two tents, plastic totes, etc, all valued at $832.
*Tittle entered a storage building and stole from his victim multiple items such as an Oak dining room set, pool table, pool sticks, etc. all valued at $1750.
* Tittle entered a storage building and stole from his victim multiple items such as Maytag washer, 60 inch TV, miscellaneous tools, and two saddles, all valued at $1875.
* Tittle entered a storage building and took from his victim two Honda generators, coin proof sets, a pair of binoculars, and a Honda gas tank all valued at $3,575.
