DeKalb Fishing Team Kicks Off Season

Members of the DeKalb Fishing Team kicked off the season at the Mid TN Showdown on Old Hickory Lake Saturday Oct 10th.

Cole Wright, Olivia Taylor, Caleb Taylor, Madison Ray, Logan O’Conner, Hunter Cannon and Hasten Waggoner were among 206 boating participants.

Weather conditions were poor and it was a pretty tough day on the water due to rain however one team, Logan O’Conner and Madison Ray, had a fish that weighed in at 2.07 lbs.




DeKalb Angel Tree Project Signups Coming Soon

The 26th Annual DeKalb County Angel Tree Project signups are coming soon. However, due to COVID 19, the application pick up location and process will be different. Monday, November 2nd and Tuesday, November 3rd are the only two dates that applications will be made available. There are NO EXCEPTIONS. Times will be from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Life Enrichment Center under the carport.

Applicants must be DeKalb County residents and children from birth to no older than age 12 by December 25, 2020 are eligible. You must bring photo identification and a bill with the correct current DeKalb County address of the person applying. You must also provide social security cards and birth certificates (Mother’s copy is okay) for all children listed on the application.

Guardian paperwork for temporarily placed children is acceptable. Documents are returned to the applicant, only the application is kept. Please make sure you fill out the application as completely and accurately as possible. If an applicant cannot appear in person, their application can be submitted by someone else as long as all of the required information and documentation is presented. Come prepared with all of the necessary documentation to complete your application and return it for review between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm on November 2nd or November 3rd. NO EXCEPTIONS. Face coverings are required and social distancing practices will be observed. For additional information please call Laura Stone at 615-281-9139. Tigers Bring Down Owls At Carthage

The DeKalb County Tigers brought down the Smith County Owls 42 to 7 at Carthage Friday night to improve their overall season record to 5-3. The Owls drop to 2-5

The Tigers will travel to Macon County (6-1, 2-0) Friday night, October 16 where a win coupled with a season finale victory at home over Cumberland County (0-8, 0-3) on October 30 would give the program its first ever regular season region title in school history.

In the game Friday night, the Tigers struck first as Quarterback Axel Aldino scored on a 19 yard touchdown run with 4:41 left in the 1st period capping a 72 yard drive. Jasper Kleparek booted the extra point and DeKalb County led 7-0.

Evan Jones gave the Tigers a two score advantage as he caught an 11 yard touchdown pass from Aldino with 11:54 left in the 2nd period capping a 78 yard drive. Kleparek added the extra point and DC led 14-0

Smith County got on the board with 9:45 left in the 2nd period as Quarterback Johnny Lyda raced 42 yards for the endzone capping a 68 yard drive. Salomon Rodriguez tacked on the extra point and the Owls trailed 14-7.

DeKalb County expanded its lead with 7:42 left in the half on a 22 yard run by Aldino capping a 53 yard drive. Kleparek’s extra point was good and the Tigers were up 21-7.

The Tigers took advantage of a blocked Smith County punt as Colby Barnes scored from 10 yards out with 5:06 left in the 2nd period. Kleparek added the PAT and DC held a 28-7 lead.

Barnes got his second touchdown of the night on an 84 yard run with 11:36 left in the 3rd period. Kleparek booted the extra point and DeKalb County owned a 35-7 lead.

Aldino got the last score of the game on a 41 yard touchdown run with 5:28 left in the 3rd period. The kick by Kleparek was good and the Tigers went on to claim a 42-7 victory.
