DCHS to Host Open House Tonight (Thursday)

DCHS presents an Open House October 27 starting at 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. featuring several Big Events including a Band Concert from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and a Choir Concert from 7 to 7:40 p.m.

Project Graduation will present a Haunted House from 5:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Make a donation to enter. The Haunted House will remain open two hours later than the Open House.

Other activities include a LIVE wax museum, trick-or-treating, yearbook FLASH SALE, interactive student projects and work on display, chili cookoff, CTE/STEM demonstrations, face painting, hair braiding, and carnival games, and food trucks!




WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters College Football Talk Show Airs Today (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m.

Ricky Atnip remains the leader among WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters picking college football winners.

Atnip has the best overall record at 93-27 followed by Jared Davis at 89-31, Grant James 87-33, Darrell Gill 83-37, Scott Brown and Chad Kirby each at 82-38 and Scott Goodwin and John Pryor each at 80-40.

For the week, Ricky Atnip had the best record at 11-4 followed by Grant James 10-5, Jared Davis, Scott Goodwin and John Pryor each at 9-6, and Darrell Gill, Scott Brown, and Chad Kirby each at 8-7.

One Fearless Forecasters hit his underdog pick last week. Scott Goodwin picked up 6.5 points as Oklahoma State beat Texas 41-34.

Overall, Darrell Gill leads in underdog points with 17.5 followed by Scott Brown 17, Grant James, Jared Davis, and Scott Goodwin each with 11, and John Pryor and Ricky Atnip each have 6.5 points.

Today (Thursday) the Forecasters will be picking winners in the following games:
Ohio State at Penn State. Utah at Washington State, Oklahoma State at Kansas State, Cincinnati at UCF, Notre Dame at Syracuse, TCU at West Virginia, Oklahoma at Iowa State, Illinois at Nebraska, Pittsburgh at North Carolina, Arkansas at Auburn, Florida vs Georgia, Ole Miss at Texas A&M, Missouri at South Carolina, Kentucky at Tennessee and in the NFL the Tennessee Titans will be at the Houston Texans.

Early Voting Tops 900 through Wednesday for November Elections

A total of 908 people has cast ballots in DeKalb County through the first seven days of early voting for the State and Federal November 8 elections.

Early Voting will be held Thursday, October 27 at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Smithville from 2 to 6 p.m. and at the DeKalb County Fairgrounds in Alexandria (one day only-Thursday, October 27) from 9 until 11 a.m.

Other times for early voting at the courthouse through November 3 are as follows: Monday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Wednesday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursdays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. until Noon. The hours for voting at the 12 precincts on Election Day, November 8th are 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Voters will be making their selections for Governor, Congressman and State Representative and voters in the 4th district only will have a candidate for Constable to fill an unexpired term. In addition, voters will be making their choices on four constitutional amendments.
