DeKalb West March Students of the Month

DeKalb West School has announced the Students of the Month for March. Named to the honor were Breylin Hale, PreK; Weston Hancock, Kindergartren, Maddie Moore, 1st grade, Maggie Hendrix, 2nd grade, Zada Miller, 3rd grade, Grady Thomason, 4th grade, Javan Hefflin, 5th grade, Jaiden Tramel, 6th grade, Kaylee Redmon, 7th grade, and Caitlin Shoemake, 8th grade. Students are chosen for the award based on academics, character, and other traits that make them outstanding students.

DCHS Lady Tiger Kadee Ferrell named to TN Report All-State Class 3A Team

The TN Report released their All-State girls’ basketball teams this week which includes a DeKalb County High School athlete.

Making the Class AAA team was senior Kadee Ferrell. The teams were selected by coaches around the state.

Along with having earned the DCHS Lady Tiger MVP honor for the 2021-22 season, Ferrell, a member of the 1,000-point club at DCHS, was recognized during the team banquet last week for having been named to the 1st Team All-District 7AAA and received awards for having the most rebounds and assists during the season. Ferrell also made the DTC All-Star Team.

In November, Ferrell signed a letter of intent with Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee to play for the Lady Lions next season.




Early Voting Dates and Times Set for May 3 Primaries

The DeKalb County Election Commission has set the early voting hours for the May primaries

Early voting begins April 13 and runs through April 28 and will be held at the DeKalb County Courthouse in Smithville and limited hours at the Fairgrounds in Alexandria.

Early voting hours in Smithville are as follows: Mondays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Thursdays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m. to Noon.

Early voting hours in Alexandria will be Tuesday April 19th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Monday April 25 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

All properly registered voters can vote early at either location. Early voting will not be held on Good Friday.
