DeKalb Health Department Moving COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic to Fairgrounds in Alexandria

Starting Tuesday, March 23, the DeKalb County Health Department will be moving its Covid vaccine location to the Alexandria Fairgrounds (102 Fairgrounds Rd, Alexandria, TN 37012). From that date forward, first and second doses will be given at this location.

Their hours of operation will be as followed:

Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will be from 9am-3pm
Tuesdays will be 7am-3pm
Thursdays will be 9am-6pm

Steps to register:
Go to https://vaccinate.tn.gov/
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click in blue “Proceed to COVID-19 questionnaire”
Enter unique code given and click “next”

That starts the process of answering questions and entering your personal information
Once you have done all of the above, you will be scheduled for your Covid vaccine
You will need a working phone number and email to proceed with scheduling your Covid vaccine.​​




Floating Mill Recreation Area closing for maintenance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District is closing Floating Mill Recreation Area at
Center Hill Lake Thursday, March 18, through Sunday, March 21. The ramp, shelter, beach, and restroom facilities are not accessible due to maintenance and restriping of parking lots. The
recreation area will be fully reopened to the public 8 a.m. March 22, 2021.

Alternative launching ramps closest to Floating Mill Recreation Area include Hurricane Bridge
Recreation Area, Edgar Evins State Park, and Center Hill Recreation Area, which is also known as Ike Park.

State Lawmakers to honor DCHS Valedictorian and Salutatorian

State Senate Joint Resolutions honoring DeKalb County High School Class of 2021 Valedictorian Carly Vance and Salutatorian Hannah Willingham have been introduced in the Tennessee General Assembly by State Senator Mark Pody.

The resolutions are expected to be adopted by both the State House and Senate and signed by the Governor.

The Resolution honoring and recognizing Vance states as follows:

“A Resolution to honor and recognize Carly Vance, 2021 Valedictorian of DeKalb County High School.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pause to pay tribute to those students who, through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic excellence, have distinguished themselves in the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Carly Vance is one such exceptional student who was recently named Valedictorian of the 2021 graduating class at DeKalb County High School; and

WHEREAS, through diligent study, steady composure during examinations, and steadfast commitment of time and talent, Carly Vance has achieved outstanding academic success and joined the ranks of the best and brightest students in Tennessee and our country; and

WHEREAS, in her remarkable high school career, Ms. Vance has earned an exemplary grade point average and participated in numerous extracurricular activities, including Student Government Association, Climate Crew, and Beta Club; and

WHEREAS, Carly Vance’s display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for her future success as a student at Freed-Hardeman University; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Vance’s noteworthy achievement is a tremendous source of pride for her parents, Chris and Cheryl Vance, her school, and her community; and

WHEREAS, Carly Vance’s dedication to excellence is clearly deserving of the respect, admiration, and commendation of the members of this General Assembly; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED TWELFTH GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby commend and honor the 2021 DeKalb County High School Valedictorian, Carly Vance, on her impressive academic achievement and extend to her our best wishes for a happy, successful future”.
