How about a cute little kitten to cuddle up with?

Meet “Squeaker”, the WJLE/DeKalb Animal Coalition featured “Pet of the Week”

“This little gal is a 6 weeks old domestic short haired tabby and full of spunk. She loves to run, jump, and chase toys but she is just as comfortable sitting in your lap for a snooze. Squeaker eats well on her own, both soft food and dry food.  She is also doing well with her litter box training. Squeaker is ready to go to her new home and I’m sure she won’t be here long,” said Shelter Director Megan Moore.

Good news from the Trustee’s Office

2018 property tax collections have exceeded budget projections.

During Monday night’s county commission meeting, Trustee Sean Driver said as of Monday, April 22, 94.75% of the 2018 property taxes had been collected of the $9.1 million to be collected which includes property, residential, commercial, personal, and public utility taxes. That is just below 95% collections  of 2017 property taxes through April 22, 2018.

Each year for budgetary purposes, the county projects collections at 94%  with a 6% delinquency rate.

Total assets and liabilities match as of April 22 at $28.4 million.

Penalties are now accruing on 2018 taxes which were not paid by the February 28 deadline. Any 2017 unpaid taxes have now been turned over to the Chancery Court for collection.
