DCHS Basketball Teams to Close Out Regular Season This Week

The DCHS basketball teams will complete the regular season this week with three nights of games remaining on the schedule all at home.

The Tigers and Lady Tigers will host Macon County, Tuesday February 5; Smith County on Thursday, February 7; and close out the season against Monterey on senior night Friday, February 8. Each night’s action begins with the girls games at 6 p.m. followed by the boys games. WJLE will have LIVE coverage each night.

The District Tournament begins next week.

Take the Dodge Ball Challenge to Benefit DCHS Tigerette Softball

The Dodge Ball Last One Standing Dodge Ball Challenge will be Saturday, March 2 to benefit the DCHS Tigerette Softball program.

Games begins at 11 a.m. at the DCHS gymnasium. Registration is at 10 a.m.

Divisions: 6th to 8th grade, 9th to 12th grade, Women (all female teams will play in women’s high school division) Men’s (co-ed teams welcome).

Deputy On Patrol Almost Hits Intoxicated Pedestrian

An intoxicated pedestrian who put herself in danger by walking in the middle of the road was arrested last week.

36 year old Tabitha Ann Trice of Lee Braswell Road, Smithville is charged with public intoxication. Her bond $1,500 and she will be in court February 14.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on January 27 a deputy was driving on South Mountain Highway and almost struck a woman walking in the middle of the road. He stopped and spoke with the woman, Trice who became very belligerent and she had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her person.

53 year old Michael Kenneth Sisco of South College Street is charged with driving under the influence. His bond is $2,500 and he will make a court appearance on February 14.

Sheriff Ray said that on January 28 a deputy responded to Bright Hill Road, Smithville due to a wreck. Upon arrival he spoke with Sisco, who was in the driver’s seat of the wrecked vehicle. Sisco had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his person. His speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. Sisco submitted to but performed poorly on field sobriety tasks. He was placed under arrest.
