Convicted Felon Gets 10 Year Sentence for Illegal Possession of Drugs and Weapon

A convicted felon found with drugs and a weapon last fall appeared for sentencing last Tuesday, July 17 in DeKalb County Criminal Court.
43 year old Patty Sue Tatrow entered a plea by criminal information to possession of a schedule II controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver and possession of a weapon by a felon. She received a 10 year sentence in the drug case and 6 years for the weapon charge. The terms are to run concurrently with each other and with a Warren County case against her. Tatrow is to serve one year and then the sentence is to be suspended to supervised probation. She was given 23 days jail credit. Tatrow must forfeit the weapon and she was fined $2,000.
Tatrow was arrested on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 for possession of methamphetamine for resale and she was cited for simple possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. After observing a vehicle stopped in the road way, police conducted a welfare check. Both the driver and passenger, Tatrow said that they were on probation and consented for the officer and a county deputy to do a search. In Tatrow’s possession, the officers found 2.8 grams of a clear crystal substance which field tested positive for methamphetamine along with .112 ounces of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Tatrow also had 19 baggies, two glass pipes, and a set of digital scales in the same container with the methamphetamine and marijuana. She was then taken into custody without incident.
Tatrow was arrested again the following month and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell or deliver and unlawful possession of a weapon. She was further cited for simple possession of schedule II & VI drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 two detectives went to a residence on McMinnville Highway to pick up Tatrow on an active warrant. Upon entering her bedroom, they spotted a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana on a small mirror and a marijuana cigarette on her dresser. A further search of the room turned up several bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. The bags weighed 6.3 grams; 0.01 gram; and 8.25 ounces. They also found in Tatrow’s wallet a small baggie which held a clear rock like substance believed to be methamphetamine ice which weighed 0.82 grams. Two sets of digital scales were found and a 22 caliber handgun was recovered from a nightstand next to her bed. Tatrow is a 2005 Warren County convicted felon.
1,541 Vote Early To Date

A total of 1,541 people have cast ballots with four days left of early voting for the August 2 elections.
According to the election commission, 141 voted Tuesday, July 24
Of the 1,541 total, 868 have voted in the State Republican Primary and 495 in the State Democratic Primary. A total of 177 have chosen not to vote in either primary just the County General.
Early voting runs through Saturday, July 28. Election Day is Thursday, Aug. 2.
Voting is being conducted on the first floor of the DeKalb County Courthouse.
The times are as follows:
Monday—1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday—9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Wednesday—9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Thursday—2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Friday—9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday—9 a.m. to noon.
Free School Supplies Event Set for Friday, July 27

The Annual First Day of School Education Celebration for DeKalb County will be held on Friday, July 27 starting at 6:00 p.m. downtown around the courthouse square.
This year’s event is being held a few days prior to the actual first day of school. Registration for students will be Wednesday, August 1 and the first full day of classes is set for Thursday, August 2.
Anyone planning to set up a booth for the Education Celebration this year is asked to wait until after 1 p.m. that day, Friday July 27 because early voting for the August elections will be held from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Michelle Burklow, Supervisor of Instruction for Pre-Kindergarten to 6th Grade, said the event is free and all parents and students are urged to attend to help kick off the new school year. “Our goal is to provide an evening of activities, education, and enjoyment for the residents of DeKalb County. We will be having information booths, passing out school supplies, refreshments, and various activities for the students to participate in while promoting education.”
“This will also provide a time for our teachers and parents to come together to build a foundation for new and positive relationships, right from day one,” said Burklow
“Our First Day of School Celebration is an opportunity for our schools to take a leadership role in re-enforcing and improving relationships among parents, teachers, students, and the community. This is the one day each year when it is both easiest and most important to enlist families as partners in our children’s education. This is a great time for us to engage our families and make them feel welcome into our schools.”
“So come out and join us. Everything is free that evening. We’ll have free school supplies, free food, snacks and lots of community people coming together to make this event possible”, said Burklow.
“There are many volunteers, churches, and organizations that come together to make this event possible for our children so they are able to start school with new supplies and a great positive attitude.”
