Father-Daughter Dance to be held in support of Habitat for Humanity

Fathers and daughters of all ages will be making memories and helping support Habitat for Humanity next month during the first ever Father-Daughter Dance for this cause.
Tickets are on sale now at all banks in Smithville for the event to be held Saturday, April 4 from 6- 9 p.m. at the DeKalb County Complex.
Spokesperson Holly Moore said the dance is a way to honor fathers and encourage strong father-daughter relationships while raising funds for a great cause.
“Its not about how well you dance but about fathers and daughters making memories and having fun together. You can come dressed all decked out or casual,” said Moore.
“The cost is $20 per person and its open to all ages and if you are in a situation where your father has passed away or is not available, you may attend with another male relative such as an uncle or grandfather. In addition to dancing the event will include a dinner, one professional photo, a chocolate fountain, a fun photo booth, and you will get a cute gift bag. I want to thank everyone who purchases a ticket because all proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity which is a wonderful organization,” Moore continued.
“I know especially with everyone’s focus on Putnam and other counties affected by the tornadoes last week we can all agree making memories that last a lifetime is priceless so I encourage all fathers and daughters, young and older alike, to participate in this father-daughter dance and make memories together,” said Moore.
Organizers of this event hope to have a mother-son dance this fall.

DCHS Tigerette softball fans helped raise funds for the program Saturday at the high school by test driving a new Ford vehicle from Florence & White Ford.
Through the annual “Ford Drive 4 UR School” program, the Ford Motor Company donates $20 to the school for every test-drive taken for a total of up to $6,000. Florence & White Ford had several new Ford cars and pickup trucks available to test drive for the fundraiser.

“This is a great community sponsorship for us. We were trying to get 300 people to sign up today (Saturday) so we could get maximum dollars from Ford and we are happy to have everyone from Florence & White Ford here to help us with this sponsorship,” said Tigerette Coach Danny Fish.
“The way this works is people come by, hop in a car or truck, and take a test drive. There is no pressure. We don’t try to sell anything. You just register and take a test drive and when you finish you post register. Its that simple and the school gets money. It’s a good event for the community and everyone helps out. It’s great,” said Jimmy White of Florence & White Ford.
“These funds go a long way especially in softball which is a smaller program and lower revenue generating sport. This really helps us out in a big way,” added Coach Fish.
