More than 95% of the DeKalb County property taxes owed for 2021 have been collected by the Trustee’s Office and notices are going out Friday to those still delinquent.
During Monday night’s regular monthly meeting, Trustee Sean Driver informed the county commission that for the 2021 tax year, 95.64% of the property taxes had been collected as of Monday, April 25. That is a little better than the 95.49% collection for 2020 taxes one year ago on the same date.
“We are proud of that. It means we have met budget for the 6% delinquency rate,” said Driver.
“Friday we will be mailing a reminder to those who have not paid 2021 taxes,” he added.
2021 property taxes were due February 28, 2022. Unpaid taxes are still owed and are accruing an interest and penalty.
For budgeting purposes, the county usually projects a 94% collection rate with a 6% delinquency.
