Another Open House for “Tiny House” set for Saturday, March 7th at DCHS

If you missed the open house Monday for the Tiny House you have another opportunity.
An open house is scheduled for Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at DCHS just prior to the Ford Drive 4 UR School fundraiser for the Tigerette softball program which will be from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
You are invited to stop by to view the Tiny House recently completed by students in the DCHS Residential and Commercial Construction Class. It is located near the Vocational School.
The Tiny House is now for sale and sealed bids are being accepted. The minimum bid has been established at $22,600. The Board of Education will open bids at the next regular monthly meeting on Thursday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the Ernest Ray Education Center.
The 8’ x 24’ Tiny House stands up to 13 feet and 6 inches and sets on a modified trailer that can be anchored or moved from place to place.
Accommodations in the Tiny House, although compact include a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and sleeping space.
Specific features are as follows:
● Mobility by use of a trailer
● Central heat and air unit
● Cooktop
● Solid wood cherry cabinets
● Loft bedroom
● Cherry laminate flooring
● Bathroom with shower
● Metal roof
● Cedar wood siding ( stained and finished)
● 200 square feet including loft
Singer and Songwriter Kathryn Adams to Appear on WJLE’s “Jammin’ at the 428”

Singer and songwriter Kathryn Adams will appear on WJLE’s “Jammin’ at the 428” show (today) Friday morning.
The program will air at 8:30 a.m. following the “Old Time Country Community Radio Show”.
Jim Hicks, the host of the show, will interview Adams and showcase a few of her songs on the program.
“Kathryn is such an elegant lady with a great voice. She talked about the awards she has won and her song writing credits. Kathryn is a good song writer and she also gives vocal and piano lessons. We were so happy and blessed to have her as a guest on the show. We hope the listeners will enjoy it,” said Hicks.

WJLE/DeKalb Animal Shelter Featured Pet of the Week is a Cat named “Mouse”

The WJLE/DeKalb Animal Shelter featured “Pet of the Week” is a cat named “Mouse”.
“Mouse is a two year old neutered male cat and is up to date on all his vaccinations. He gets along well with other cats and loves children and adults. If you would like to adopt Mouse come by the shelter to meet him and us and put in your adoption application,” said Shelter employee Emmaly Bennett.
The shelter, located on Transfer Station Road behind Tenneco Automotive off Highway 70 east in Smithville, has been in operation since November, 2017 under the DeKalb Animal Coalition, a 501 c 3 non profit organization.
Stop by the animal shelter, call 615-597-3647 (DOGS), or visit facebook. The shelter is currently open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12-4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 12 noon. Closed Wednesday.
