Betty Davis Wins Senior Fair Queen Pageant

The 2023 Senior Fair Queen of the DeKalb County Fair is 71-year-old Betty Davis of Smithville.
Davis won the title during the annual pageant held Tuesday night at the fair in Alexandria. She also won the Miss Congeniality honor. Davis succeeds the retiring queen Jeanette Adcock Mabe of Smithville.
Betty is married to her best friend Tommy Davis and they pastor the Bethany United Methodist Church at Baxter. Davis is a caregiver and enjoys spending time with family and friends. Betty loves dancing, going to concerts, and enjoys traveling. “I just love life”, she said.
First runner up in the pageant was 58-year-old Tammy West of Smithville. She was also judged Most Photogenic. West has been married for 10 years and has an adopted daughter and two stepchildren. West is a graduate of Tennessee Tech with a B.A. in Business Management, and she has lived in several states including New York. She loves reading, cross stitching, and gardening.
63-year-old Kathy Adams Reynolds of Smithville was second runner up. A college history professor, Reynolds is wife of a trucker, mother of two, and grandmother of five. She is active in church and her hobbies include reading, boating, swimming, traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with pets.

Cindy Taylor Claims Mrs. Fair Queen Crown

The 2023 DeKalb County Fair’s Mrs. Fair Queen is 49-year-old Cindy Taylor of Smithville. The pageant was held Tuesday night.
Taylor, who was also named Miss Congeniality, succeeds the 2022 Mrs. Fair Queen, 48-year-old Amy Clare Lockhart of Smithville. Taylor and her husband Ken have been married for 30 years and are the parents of three daughters, Shauna, Abbi, and Kenlee and one grandchild. All three daughters have been participants and winners in various beauty pageants including the DeKalb County Fair over the years, but this was the first time Cindy has ever entered a pageant.
First runner-up was 31-year-old Kayla Brooke Harvey of Alexandria who was also awarded as Most Photogenic. She and her husband Chad have four children ranging in age from six months to eight years and sadly lost their son Eli in a tragic accident last year. The family operates a farm and bushhogging business and attend the Helton Creek The Baptist Church.
28-year-old MaKayla Shea Turner of Smithville was second runner up. She has been married for two years and is currently a student in a medical lab program at Vol State Community College. She also works and plans to pursue a career in the medical field.
DeKalb County Fair has new Little Mister

Bentlee John Myers was crowned Little Mister at the DeKalb County Fair Tuesday night.
Myers is the 5-year-old son of Crystal Stibil of Smithville. Myers was also awarded for being Most Photogenic.
He succeeds the retiring Little Mister, Keaton Sawyer Hale, the 6-year-old son of Bobby Lee and Ciara Hale of Alexandria.
The pageant featured 5 contestants ages 4-6.
First runner-up was Samuel Keith Griffin, 4-year-old son of Luke and Casey Griffin of Alexandria.
Tucker Cripps was second runner-up. He is the 4-year-old son of Tyler and Jessica Cripps of Alexandria.
6-year-old Robert Maddux Hale, son of Kimberly and Austin Hale of Smithville was named Mister Manners.
Grayson Thomas Lee Johnson was also featured in the pageant. He is the 4-year-old son of Shelby and Dustin Johnson of Smithville.
