Lady Saints Soccer Team to Battle Overton County for Regular Season Conference Crown Tuesday Night

The Lady Saints soccer team went on the road twice last week to play Macon County on Tuesday night and Prescott Middle on Thursday.

On Tuesday, the Lady Saints found themselves in a barn burner with no score at halftime. Shortly after the second half started, the Macon County Lady Tigers found the back of the net to go up 1-0 and kept the lead for most of the half. With five minutes to go in the match, Kinsley Savage for the Lady Saints scored and the game ended in a 1-1 standoff. The Lady Saints Junior Varsity team lost 1-0.

On Thursday night, the Lady Saints got off to a good start and led 3-0 at halftime. They added three more goals in the second half to get the victory. The JV team also won 2-0

Assists: Rosio Godinez, Tatum Young (2), Emily Robinson.

The Lady Saints now enter the last week of the regular season with an overall record of 5-2-2 and 4-0-2 in the conference. The Lady Saints will play host to Overton County in a battle for a first place conference finish on Tuesday, September 22nd at 5p.m.




Vol Network’s “BIG ORANGE HOTLINE” Radio Show Debuts Tonight (Monday)

The Vol Network’s “Big Orange Hotline” radio show debuts for the 2020 football season Monday, September 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern / 7 p.m. Central across the state of Tennessee live from the outdoor patio at Dead End BBQ restaurant on Sutherland Avenue in Knoxville. The Vol Network’s Bob Kesling hosts the show and will be joined each week by former Vol quarterbacks Pat Ryan and Jeff Francis. Numerous special guests and former Vols will join the show again this season.

Entering its 11th season, “Big Orange Hotline” is a weekly, one-hour, prime time Tennessee football review and preview show presented and hosted since its beginning at Dead End BBQ. In addition to interviews, calls and discussion, Monday’s opening show will also feature a scouting report on Tennessee’s season-opening home opponent, the South Carolina Gamecocks. Dead End BBQ and the Vol Network are adhering to the local health, safety and social distancing guidelines outlined in the state of Tennessee’s “Tennessee Pledge” plan.

DeKalb Saints Homecoming Royalty

The 2020 DeKalb Saints Homecoming Queen Annabella Eleni Dakas was crowned Thursday night during a program held prior to the Saints football game with Smith County at the DCHS football field.

The Saints won 12-10

Dakas, an 8th grader, was escorted by her brother Andrew Dakas, 8th grade captain, wide receiver and linebacker and Wesley Kent, 8th grade captain, running back and linebacker.

Laurie Beth Risgby, an 8th grade attendant, was escorted by Luke Midgett, 8th grade offensive lineman and defensive end.

Kora Lin Kilgore, 8th grade attendant, escorted by Ty Webb, 8th grade captain, running back and linebacker

Caroline Crook, DeKalb West 8th grade attendant, escorted by Axel Aranda, 8th grade captain, running back and free safety.

Deanna Agee, 7th grade attendant, was escorted by Alex Lemons, 8th grade offensive lineman and defensive end
