WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters College Football Talk Show Airs Today (Thursday) at 4:30 p.m.

Chad Kirby is again the sole leader among WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters picking college football winners.

Kirby has compiled an overall record of 44-22 after five weeks of the season.

Overall Darrell Gill and Ricky Atnip are tied for second place at 43-23 followed by Grant James and Scott Brown each at 42-24, Dewain Hendrixson 41-25, Jared Davis, John Pryor, and Will Graham each at 40-26, and Scott Goodwin at 39-27.

Scott Brown had the best single week record last week at 9-2 followed by Darrell Gill and Jared Davis each at 8-3, Chad Kirby, John Pryor, and Will Graham each at 7-4, and Grant James, Ricky Atnip, Scott Goodwin and Dewain Hendrixson each at 6-5.

Four forecasters hit their underdog picks last week. Jared Davis got on the board with 6.5 points as North Texas defeated MTSU 52-35. Chad Kirby added 2.5 points to his total as Arkansas upset Ole Miss 33-21. South Carolina’s 30-22 win over Auburn gave Scott Goodwin 3 points and Will Graham picked up 6 points with Kentucky’s win over Tennessee 34-7.

After five weeks Darrell Gill is the underdog points leader with 29 points followed by Scott Goodwin 25.5, Scott Brown 19, Chad Kirby 17, Grant James 14.5, Dewain Hendrixson 12.5, Ricky Atnip 11.5, Will Graham 8, Jared Davis 6.5, and John Pryor 0.

Today (Thursday) the Forecasters will be picking winners in the following games:

DeKalb Early Voting Count Stands at 2,500 Through Wednesday (VIEW PRECINCT VOTING CHARTS HERE)

A total of 2,500 people out of 12,508 registered voters in DeKalb County have cast ballots early for the November 3 election.

According to the DeKalb County Election Commission 356 voted Wednesday including 328 in person and 28 by absentee for a seven day total of 2,500.

Early voting hours today (Thursday, October 22) will be from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. All early voting is being conducted in the first floor courtroom of the DeKalb County Courthouse.

Voters are also reminded the last day to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday October 27.

Safeguards are in place to help protect both workers and voters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our office, in conjunction with the local election commission and state office, has worked to make the voting process as ‘No Touch’ as possible, just as it was in August” said Administrator of Elections Dennis Stanley.

“Voters will have access to a disposable pen when they arrive to vote which will minimize contact with shared surfaces and voting machines. Voters may also use their own pen or may use disposable gloves.”

Hand sanitizer will be available at the polling locations and poll workers have been equipped with face masks and/or face shields and some will be stationed behind plexiglass sneeze guards. Social distancing signs will be displayed either on the floor or walls throughout the entrance and voting area.

“We encourage all voters to do their part in making the voting experience a safe and efficient process,” said Stanley.

Voting by precinct compared to the number of registered voters by precinct is as follows through Wednesday, October 21:

Alexandria: 181 voted (registered voters in this precinct 1,320 (13.7% have voted)

Temperance Hall: 86 voted (504 registered voters in this precinct (17% have voted)

Edgar Evins State Park: 7 voted (100 registered voters in this precinct (7% have voted)

Liberty: 85 voted (546 registered voters in this precinct (15.5% have voted)

Dowelltown: 96 voted (534 registered voters in this precinct (17.9% have voted)

Snow Hill: 135 voted (710 registered voters in this precinct (19% have voted)

Church of God: 400 voted (1,808 registered voters in this precinct (22.1% have voted)

Rock Castle: 24 voted (188 registered voters in this precinct (12.7% have voted)

Courthouse: 480 voted (1,770 registered voters in this precinct (27.1% have voted)

Johnson’s Chapel: 122 voted (532 registered voters in this precinct (22.9% have voted)

County Complex: 309 voted (1,347 registered voters in this precinct (22.9% have voted)

Belk: 40 voted (389 registered voters in this precinct (10.2% have voted)

Keltonburg: 115 voted (574 registered voters in this precinct (20% have voted)

Blue Springs: 90 voted (630 registered voters in this precinct (14.2% have voted)

Church of Christ Annex: 330 voted (1,556 registered voters in this precinct (21.2% have voted)

Voting totals for the previous six days were as follows:

*Wednesday, October 14- 528 cast ballots including 287 in person and 241 by absentee.

*Thursday, October 15 – 320 voted including 303 in person and 17 absentees

*Friday, October 16- 340 including 336 in person and 4 absentees

*Saturday, October 17- 268 including 247 in person and 21 absentees

*Monday, October 19- 362 which was 346 in person (including Webb House residents) and 16 absentees.

*Tuesday, October 20-326 including 317 in person and 9 by absentee

Early Voting is underway through October 29 in the first floor courtroom of the courthouse.

Early voting hours are as follows:

Mondays 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursdays 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (except the last Thursday, Oct. 29 when the hours will be 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.)

Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (except the last Friday, October 23 when the hours will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

Saturdays 9 a.m. to Noon.

 




DeKalb Health Department Hosting Free Flu Clinic and Blood Assurance Drive Today (Thursday)

The DeKalb County Health Department will be hosting a FREE flu clinic and a Blood Assurance drive today (Thursday, October 22) on Tiger Drive in Smithville.

The drive-thru flu clinic will be held from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Meanwhile the DeKalb County Blood Assurance Drive will be from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the health department inside the Bloodmobile at the parking lot.

All donors will receive a $10 Wal-Mart gift card and a “Turn Over a New Leaf Mug”.

Donors may download “bloodassurancequicksreen” and answer the health questions today prior to coming to the mobile unit to donate. This will save 10 minutes on the bus.
