DeKalb Neighbors Helping Neighbors Blood Assurance Drive Today (Monday)

A DeKalb County Neighbors Helping Neighbors Blood Assurance Drive will be Monday, July 8 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the County Complex Senior Citizens Center inside the Bloodmobile.
All donors will be given a FREE “BA Donor in Paradise” beach towel. All donors will also be entered for a chance to win” 4 Dollywood Splash Country Water Park Tickets”. To schedule an appointment, go to Bloodassurance.org/dekalb or contact Jimmy Poss at 615-464-7426 or jimposs72@yahoo.com.

Rocky Top Revue Repeats as Fiddlers Jamboree Square Dancing Champs (View Video Here)

Rocky Top Revue of Franklin repeated as the Square Dancing Champion at the 48th annual Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts Festival. They came into the competition Saturday night as the defending champs from 2018.

This award winning group beat out two other square dancing teams in the finals Saturday night including Step Aside of Waverly, who took second place and Harpeth River of Franklin, who finished in third place.

Rocky Top Revue also repeated as champs in 2015 and 2016 but was not eligible to compete in 2017 as per rules of the Fiddlers Jamboree (no contestant can win more than two years in a row).

Ivy Phillips has claimed her third Grand Champion Fiddling Title at the Smithville Fiddlers Jamboree and Crafts Festival.

The Chapmansboro resident, who also won the Junior Fiddling contest here Saturday night, beat out the Senior Fiddling Champion Thomas Chapman of Falkville, Alabama in the showdown for the Berry C. Williams Memorial Award. Phillips won back to back championships in 2016 and 2017.
It is the 9th year in a row that a Junior Fiddler has beaten the Senior Fiddler for the Grand Championship of the Festival.
Phillips was also a two time fiddling champion for beginners in 2012 and 2013
