Dewain Hendrixson Remains in First Place Among WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters (SHOW AIRS TODAY)

Dewain Hendrixson remains out front of his fellow WJLE Fearless Forecasters for picking winners after nine weeks of the college football season.

Hendrixson has an overall record of 86-48.

Darrell Gill and Will Graham remain in a tie for second place at 82-52, four games back. Scott Brown is 78-56, 8 games behind. Grant James of the James Gang is 9 games out of first place at 77-57. Chad Kirby is 10 games back at 76-58. Ricky Atnip is at 74-60, 12 games out of first place while John Pryor and the Guests are 13 games back at 73-61.

Meanwhile Chad Kirby had the best record for the week at 9-6 followed by Dewain Hendrixson 8-7, Darrell Gill and Will Graham each at 7-8, Grant James of the James Gang, John Pryor and the guest Tim Stribling each at 6-9. Scott Brown and Ricky Atnip each went 5-10.

Two forecasters hit their underdog picks last week. Grant James of the James Gang picked Northern Illinois to upset BYU and got 7 points. The guest, County Mayor Tim Stribling picked Kentucky to beat Missouri and got 7 points.

Overall Will Graham at 41 has the most underdog points followed by Grant James of the James Gang with 38 points. Scott Brown has 35 points while Ricky Atnip has 15, Darrell Gill 14, the guests 14, John Pryor 11.5, Dewain Hendrixson 11, and Chad Kirby 5.

Today (Thursday) the Forecasters will be picking winners in the following games:

Penn State at Michigan, Notre Dame at Northwestern, West Virginia at Texas, Ohio at Western Michigan, Stanford at Washington, Boston College at Virginia Tech, Iowa at Purdue, Florida State at N.C. State, Alabama at LSU, Missouri at Florida, Texas A&M at Auburn, South Carolina at Ole Miss, Georgia at Kentucky, Charlotte at Tennessee and in the NFL the Tennessee Titans at Dallas.

Today’s special guest is County Clerk James L. (Jimmy) Poss.

Smithville Elementary Announces Winners of School Nutrition Coloring Contest

Smithville Elementary would like to announce the winners of the National School Nutrition coloring contest. Students were asked to take a healthy snack and turn it into a superhero. Each winner received a Junior Cookbook as a prize. The winners are pictured with Cafeteria Manager Tammy Tyler and Interim Principal Anita Puckett, and from left to right the winners are:

Nancy Trapp to Speak and Darrin Vincent Will Entertain at Chamber Prayer Breakfast

Everyone is invited to attend the Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber Prayer Breakfast to be held on Tuesday, November 20th from 7 AM to 8 AM at the DeKalb County Complex Community Theatre, 712 South Congress Drive, Smithville.  Doors open at 6:30 AM.

The Prayer Breakfast theme is “The Journey to Forgiveness.” This year’s keynote speaker, Nancy Trapp, will share her story of devastating, soul-shaking tragedy, along with her journey through anger and pain and eventually to forgiveness and personal growth.

Nancy is a graduate of ULM University of Louisiana-Monroe, is CNOR-certified in operating room procedures, and has her master’s degree from UT, Knoxville in nursing administration and nursing education. Nancy is a member of Smithville First Baptist Church, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing, and AORN Nashville. She worked for Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital 11 1/2 years.

Also, on the program, 5 Grammy Awards, 8 IBMA Awards for Instrumental Group of the Year winner, and Grand Ole Opry inductee Darrin Vincent of the bluegrass duo, Dailey and Vincent, will our singing entertainment. Local Boy Scout Troop #347 will present the flags. Leaders from our community will lead prayers for our Children and Families, Health and Healing of our Communities, and Military and Emergency Response Personnel making this a meaningful and memorable experience. A delicious breakfast will be prepared by Jason Evans, head chef of The Inn at Evins Mill and served with the help of the Chamber Board of Directors and the Leadership DeKalb Class of 2019.
