48 year old Royce Avon Foster of Jacobs Pillar Road, Smithville is charged with public intoxication. His bond is $1,500 and his court date is July 26.

Sheriff Ray said that on Sunday, July 8 Foster came to the sheriff’s department complaining that someone had been putting lice on him. 29 year old Ashley Danielle Geekie of Hayes Street, Smithville is charged with bringing contraband into a penal institution. She is under a $2,500 bond and her court date is July 26.

Sheriff Ray said that on Sunday, July 8 a female correctional officer was conducting a pat down search of Geekie at the jail when she found a small blue Altoid can in Geekie’s bra containing half of a peach colored pill believed to be an 8 milligram Suboxone, a schedule III drug. When asked what type of pill she had, Geekie admitted that it was Suboxone.

49 year old Shannon Eugene Tayes of Todd Lane, Dowelltown is charged with driving under the influence. He was also cited for simple possession of Hydrocodone, violation of the implied consent law, violation of the open container law, no insurance, and for speeding. Tayes’ bond is $1,500 and his court date is July 26.

Sheriff Ray said that on Saturday, July 7 a deputy stopped a vehicle for speeding and spoke to the driver, Tayes. The officer discovered that Tayes had an open container of alcohol in the automobile and that his insurance card was out of date. The deputy also smelled an odor of alcohol on Tayes’ person. Tayes admitted that he had been drinking and that he was drunk and could not pass field sobriety tasks. During a pat down search, the officer found on Tayes half of a Hydrocodone pill for which Tayes had no prescription. A search warrant was obtained for a blood sample after Tayes refused to voluntarily give blood for the test. He was placed under arrest.
