Allyson Trapp Named SES Teacher of the Month

Smithville Elementary would like to recognize its Teacher of the Month, Ms. Allyson Trapp. SES recognizes one teacher each month for his/her outstanding performance in teaching and their contribution to the students at our school. The teacher of the month is selected by the administration at Smithville Elementary.

Some of the many compliments for Ms. Allyson include:

Ms. Allyson is a key teacher here at Smithville Elementary. She has high standards and works well with her peers setting a tone for excellence that resounds throughout the school.

Allyson is kind and caring. She’s always there for her coworkers! She is wonderful to each child!

She always gives up her own time to make sure everyone has everything that they need. She always puts the kid’s needs first and has a smile on her face.

Allyson is compassionate, gentle, and kind. She loves her students so well. She has an amazing way of motivating them and is such an encourager. Her students are blessed to have her!

Ms. Allyson is such an asset to SES ! She always has a smile and is such a good teacher!

Ms. Allyson’s bubbly personality motivates her students to want to learn. She strives to build strong relationships with her students and their families.

Calling for Callie!

The DeKalb Animal Shelter is home to “Callie”, a cuddly canine critter now ready for adoption! Call for “Callie” today and give her just what she needs, a caring home!

“Callie is a one-year-old mixed breed,” said Shelter Director Emmaly Bennett. “She has already been spayed and up to date on everything. She is super sweet. A real cuddle bug and she gets along well with other dogs and people and she is doing well on behavior and her leash training. Her adoption fee is $80,” said Bennett.

A man and woman allegedly involved in a shooting Monday that wounded two former DeKalb County residents have been charged by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.

Jonathon Lewis McPeak is being held without bond on charges of attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault. Meanwhile Christina Leeann Wallace is charged with accessory after the fact. Both are to appear in Warren County General Sessions Court September 26.

The victims, Robert Louis Judkins and Eric Barnes, were wounded in the shooting.

The warrants, obtained by WJLE, allege that “On September 18, 2023 Eric Barnes called Warren County 911 center to report that his roommate, Robert Louis Judkins, had been shot inside the residence of 625 Ike Adcock Road. Barnes witnessed McPeak shoot Judkins in the hallway of the residence. Barnes was also struck in the pelvic area from a ricochet of the bullet Jonathon fired at Judkins”.

“Robert Louis Judkins suffered wounds to the abdomen area, right arm, and hip. After Judkins was shot he exited the residence. Barnes rendered aid to Judkins. Before the arrival of law enforcement, McPeak and Wallace left the residence to evade law enforcement. Wallace was inside the residence when the shooting took place. Due to the totality of the circumstances, McPeak did commit attempted homicide against Judkins and Wallace did commit the offense of being an accessory after the fact,” the warrants state.

Later in the day Monday, Warren County Sheriff’s Department authorities accompanied by DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department officers tracked the couple to a residence on Doss Thweatt Road in the Jefferson/Pates Ford Community of DeKalb County where they were found in a vehicle inside a barn and taken into custody.
