The U.S. 70 improvement project continues on schedule in DeKalb County between Liberty and Alexandria from State Route 96 to State Route 53.

TDOT Public Information Officer Rae Anne Bradley told WJLE about how this project is progressing.

“This job includes the grading, drainage, and construction of retaining walls and box culverts and paving from near State Route 53 to near State Route 96. Construction began on this project in May, 2021 and the contractor is Twin K. Construction. The cost of the project is $30,875,122. The scheduled completion date is June 30, 2024. When the project is complete there will be five lanes total and that will be two lanes in each direction with a dedicated center turn lane. There are no anticipated major traffic impacts or shifts as part of this project. Drivers should expect minimal delays for intermittent lane closures throughout the duration of this project”, said Bradley.
