Limited number of tickets to go on sale Tuesday afternoon for DCHS basketball games Tuesday night

A limited number of tickets will go on sale Tuesday, November 17 at 12:30 p.m. for DCHS basketball games Tuesday night at home against Whitehouse

“Due to restrictions from Covid there will be a limited number of tickets sold for all home DCHS basketball games this season. Ticket preference was given to parents and families of the players and cheerleaders and the remaining tickets will be sold at the high school on the day of each home game unless otherwise noted. Tickets will be sold at the main office beginning at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 17 (for Tuesday night’s games) and will be sold until all remaining tickets are gone. Tickets are $7.00 each There will be a purchasing limit of two tickets per person,” said DCHS Principal Randy Jennings




Fatal Shooting Under Investigation

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department are investigating a fatal shooting early Sunday morning at a residence on Lee Braswell Road.

Sheriff Patrick Ray said that a woman called Central Dispatch at 12:42 a.m. Sunday to report that she had shot her husband. The man was taken by DeKalb EMS to Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital where he later died.

Names of the man and woman have not been released.

In a prepared news release, Sheriff Ray said that “on Sunday morning, November the 15th, at 12:42 am, DeKalb Central Dispatch was advised of a shooting on Lee Braswell Road. The woman caller advised she had shot her husband”.

“Deputies of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene at 12:50 am. The man was taken by DeKalb EMS to Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital from the scene. The man later died at the hospital”.

“The case is being investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. There has been no arrest. Agents are awaiting autopsy reports and further investigation into the case”.

“Besides TBI Agents, Sheriff Patrick Ray, Deputies and Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department, District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway and a Detective from his Department were on the scene for assistance,” said Sheriff Ray




DeKalb Fire Department Johnson’s Chapel Station Gets $500 Donation from Mountain Harbour Property Owner’s Association

The DeKalb County Fire Department’s Johnson’s Chapel Station recently was presented a $500 donation from the Mountain Harbour Property Owners Association (POA).

The Mountain Harbour POA residential golf and lakefront community is located on the eastern end of Center Hill Lake adjacent to Riverwatch Golf Course.

Lt. Dusty Johnson and Station Commander Marco Chacon accepted the donation last week and expressed their sincere appreciation to Mountain Harbour POA for their continued support of the DeKalb Co. Fire Department. “This donation was specifically earmarked for the Johnson’s Chapel Station and will be used to improve services in this community,” said Lt. Johnson.
