Friends of the DeKalb Animal Shelter invite you a “Cars, Coffee, & Cats” benefit

Friends of the DeKalb Animal Shelter invite you to a “Cars, Coffee, & Cats” benefit on Saturday, November 21 from 7 to 11 a.m.

The event, to be held at the DeKalb Animal Shelter at 186 Transfer Station Road, will feature a car show, coffee, doughnuts, and adoptable pets. There are no entry fees and the coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Door prizes will be available and you’re urged to come and adopt a cat! Classic cars, trucks, and motorcycles are welcome. Come inside for a tour of the shelter.

All proceeds will benefit the DeKalb Animal Shelter through the Friends of Organization.

DCFD Basic Firefighter Recruit Graduation Held Tuesday

After completing 64 hours of extensive training, the DeKalb County Fire Department is proud to introduce the latest class of recruit graduates.

Marvin Montgomery, Field Instructor with the Tennessee Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Training Academy was lead instructor and the classes were held at the DeKalb County Fire Department’s Training Center. The graduation was held Tuesday.

Board of Education to Meet Via Video Conference

The DeKalb County Board of Education will meet in regular monthly session Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. A work session will be held prior to the meeting at 6 p.m. Due to COVID-19 the meeting and work session will be conducted via video conference. The meeting at 7 p.m. will be broadcast LIVE on WJLE.

The agenda is as follows:

Consider and act on the Director of Schools contract

Consider and act on an extended bus utilization

Consider and act on the DCHS Prom

Consider and act on the DCHS Graduation date

Personnel report from the Director of Schools

Any other business properly brought before the board by a board member.

Approval of a 21st Century budget amendment

Approval of a LEAP’s budget amendment
