Two men escaped serious injury Tuesday in a Liberty crash.

According to Trooper Bobby Johnson of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 78 year old William Reynolds of Liberty was in a 2002 Chevy Avalanche crossing Highway 70 from a parking lot to Choctaw Ridge Road when he pulled into the path of a 2009 Dodge Ram pulling a boat driven by 36 year old Anthony Monroe of Nashville who was west on Highway 70. The Dodge Ram hit the Chevy Avalanche in the right front knocking both vehicles off the right side of the roadway. The impact of the collision caused the boat being pulled by Monroe to be ejected off the trailer onto the roadway.

Both drivers were transported to Ascension Saint Thomas DeKalb Hospital.

If you need a good canine companion “Copper” fits the bill.

This eight year old Redbone Hound mix is the WJLE/DeKalb Animal Shelter featured “Pet of the Week”.

DeKalb Animal Shelter employee Emmaly Bennett with Copper from dwayne page on Vimeo.

“Copper is now our senior pet. He has been at the animal shelter the longest. Copper is great with people, great with children, and great with other dogs. We need to find him a good home. He is pretty laid back. Copper is good on a leash and has good manners. He is quiet and mellow and would be a good indoor or outdoor dog,” said shelter employee Emmaly Bennett.

“If you would like to meet Copper go to our website where you will see his picture under our adoptable animals tab at //www.dekalbanimalcoalition.org/ and you will be called to set up an appointment after you fill out an adoption application. For more information call 615-597-3647 or send a message on facebook or email,” said Bennett.

Meanwhile, if you need pet food for your cats and dogs be sure to stop by the shelter Friday, February 19 from 8 until 12 noon during a food pantry sponsored by the Friends organization. Please stay in your vehicle and someone will bring the food to you.
