Board of Education to Meet Via Video Conference

The DeKalb County Board of Education will meet in regular monthly session Thursday, November 12 at 7 p.m. A work session will be held prior to the meeting at 6 p.m. Due to COVID-19 the meeting and work session will be conducted via video conference. The meeting at 7 p.m. will be broadcast LIVE on WJLE.
The agenda is as follows:
Consider and act on the Director of Schools contract
Consider and act on an extended bus utilization
Consider and act on the DCHS Prom
Consider and act on the DCHS Graduation date
Personnel report from the Director of Schools
Any other business properly brought before the board by a board member.
The consent agenda is as follows:
Approval of a 21st Century budget amendment
Approval of a LEAP’s budget amendment
DeKalb COVID-19 Active Cases Continue to Rise

DeKalb County’s number of active COVID-19 cases has doubled from October 22 to November 10 going from 62 to 124. Two weeks ago, October 27 there were 93 active cases locally. No new cases were reported Tuesday, November 10
According to the Tennessee Department of Health’s daily snapshot of DeKalb County as of Tuesday, November 10, there are now 124 active cases. The COVID related death count since March has increased to 19.

There have been 869 (17.9 per 100,000 residents) confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 since March in DeKalb County , 31 have been hospitalized, and 726 are now inactive or have recovered.
Over the last seven days, (November 4-10), DeKalb County had an average case count of 109 or a daily case rate of 76 per 100,000 residents per day.
Over the last 14 days, (October 28 to November 10), DeKalb County’s average case count was 156 for a daily case rate of 54.4 per 100,000 residents. During that period 11.1 new cases were reported per day.
For the 14 days prior (October 14-27) the average case count was 114 for an average daily case rate of 39.7 per 100,000 residents.
Over the last 7 days DeKalb County has averaged 63 tests per day (30. 7 tests per 10,000 residents per day) and over the last 7 days the average percent positive was 10%.
Tickets Now Available Online for Friday Night’s TSSAA Football Playoff Game Between Tigers and Nolensville

Tickets are now available for Friday night’s second round TSSAA football playoff game between the DeKalb County Tigers and the Nolensville Knights. The game will be played at DCHS in Smithville. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. and WJLE will have LIVE coverage.
“Tickets will be sold exclusively online through GoFan for this week’s playoff game. Tickets will not be sold at the gate. Here is the link to purchase tickets and we will validate the ticket at the gate as fans enter the stadium,” said DCHS Principal Randy Jennings
