Indian Mound Motocross (MX) Park to Open This Month

Motocross enthusiasts now have a local track to practice, and in the near future, to watch races.
D.J. Stewart and his partner Nate Card are opening the Indian Mound MX outdoor motocross track at 575 Pinhook Road, about 3 ½ miles off Indian Mound Road in eastern DeKalb County.
The American Motocross Association sanctioned track, about a mile long, is a pro style track that will be open for amateurs to practice with the hope of having races in a few months.
“Starting in October we will open for practices two weekends per month until the spring,” Stewart said. “We still have a lot of stuff to do. We have to put up starting gates and lights.”
“We will open it in the Spring for like a Saturday night Super Cross where people can come out and watch,” he continued. “Participants from 4 years old to 60 plus can take part in it.”
Practice costs $25 per rider. There will be no spectator fees on practice days, “but when we race it will probably be $10 per night,” he said.
Stewart said the business venture grew out of a need and the fact the sport is good for youngsters.
“It’s good for the kids. Motocross taught my little boy so much and that is the reason why I wanted to bring it here, plus you have to drive two hours right now to get to ride anywhere around here,” he said.
Motocross is a form of off-road motorcycle racing held on enclosed off-road circuits.
