Three people were involved in a two car crash this morning (Monday) on Highway 56 south in the Shiney Rock community.

Trooper Troy Withers of the Tennessee Highway Patrol said 65 year old James Einfeldt of Dowelltown was entering Highway 56 from a private driveway to turn south in a 2005 Nissan Altima when he pulled into the path of a northbound 2005 Chevy Impala driven by 25 year old Randy Beechler of Smithville. 28 year old Sarah Lewis of Smithville was a passenger with Einfeldt.

After impact the Chevy Impala came to rest in the yard of a residence off the highway while the Nissan Altima stopped off the road beside a guardrail.

Einfeldt was taken by private vehicle to the hospital. No one else was injured.

Both drivers were cited for no proof of insurance and Einfeldt was further cited for failure to exercise due care.

Members of the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department and DeKalb County Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene along with DeKalb EMS.
