And the winner is………Duck! PreK kids at DeKalb West School on Election Day didn’t cast their votes for Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. Instead, they voted for that web wonder who began in a humble pond and worked his way from farmer, to governor, and now the Commander in Chief. PreK students in Ms. Amy Young’s class heard the “Duck for President” book by Doreen Conan as their part of learning about the political process.

DCHS cross country standout, Ben Driver, set a new personal record at the Division I A-AA State Cross Country Championships, which was held Thursday afternoon, at Sanders Ferry Park in Hendersonville. He covered the 3.1 mile course with a PR of 18:41 which was 16 seconds faster than his time at the Regional Championships on October 29th at Macon County High School.

Coach Van Vranken had this to say about Driver.

“Ben is such an amazing competitor! Anyone that knows him or has coached him would agree that his work ethic and drive are something that is just naturally instilled in him. His accomplishments this cross country season were phenomenal. Not only is he a multi-sport athlete at DCHS, but to qualify for the State Meet as a sophomore is outstanding, and the experience of running against the “best of the best” is something that he will always remember. Coach Emily Davis and I are looking forward to next season!”
