Police Department Drug Investigation Results in Grand Jury Sealed Indictments

A three-month undercover drug investigation earlier this year by the Smithville Police Department has resulted in grand jury sealed indictments against five adults and a juvenile petition involving a 17-year-old for the illegal sale of marijuana or methamphetamine. More indictments are expected later pending TBI crime lab results.
Smithville Police Chief Mark Collins and Lieutenant Detective James Cornelius said those arrested include the following:
26-year-old Ronald Barbosa Gutierrez- Sale and Delivery of a Schedule VI drug (Marijuana) over ½ an ounce. The offenses allegedly occurred on January 9, 2023. His bond is $5,000.
26-year-old Ronald Barbosa Gutierrez and 26 Tanisha Danielle Bandy- Sale and Delivery of a Schedule VI drug (Marijuana) over ½ an ounce (2 counts). The offenses allegedly occurred on January 7 & 11, 2023. Bond for each is $5,000.
24-year-old Damion Alexander Dishman of Smithville- Sale and Delivery of a Schedule VI drug (Marijuana) over ½ an ounce. The offenses allegedly occurred on January 11, 2023. His bond is $5,000.
20-year-old Kobe Keelan Ray Cantrell of Smithville- Sale and Delivery of a Schedule II drug (Methamphetamine) over 0.5 grams.
The offenses allegedly occurred on January 11, 2023. His bond is $65,000.
All will appear for arraignment August 7 in DeKalb County Criminal Court.
Smithville Fire Department Recognized for Completion of Training Hours

The Smithville Fire Department was recently recognized for completing 1,003 training hours from the Tennessee Fire & Codes Academy this last year.
The 24 members also completed another 302 hours of local training for a total of 1,305 training hours they completed last year.
“I would personally like to thank each and every one of our members for their dedication and commitment to training, to being better prepared, for any emergency that may arise,” said Smithville Fire Chief Charlie Parker.
SCV Savage-Goodner Camp to Dedicate Memorial Plaque

To recognize the service and sacrifices of local Confederate soldiers, the Savage-Goodner Camp 1513 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is dedicating a memorial plaque to Confederate Veterans interred in Alexandria Eastview Cemetery, Cemetery Street, Alexandria, Tennessee (near City of Alexandria water tower) on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 6:30 p.m.
A brief ceremony at the cemetery with military and civilian reenactors will accompany the unveiling of a memorial sign containing the names of the Confederate Veterans buried in the Eastview Cemetery. Martin Frost from Lebanon will be the featured speaker. Mr. Frost is recognized for his study of the 7th Tennessee Infantry. Company A of this Regiment originated in Alexandria and one of its Commanders, John Goodner, as well as three other members are interred there.
The public and descendants of these men are invited to attend and witness this ceremony.
