Another arrest has been made in a local burglary and theft investigation from December.
40-year-old Terrence Brock Moore of Rock Island was picked up on January 18 charged with filing a false report, theft of property over $1,000, two counts of burglary, aggravated burglary, and evading arrest. His bond totals $97,500 and his court date is January 27. A co-defendant, 40-year-old James Robert Jones of McMinnville was also arrested and charged earlier in the month with theft of property over $1,000, aggravated burglary, and two counts of burglary. His bond totals $70,000.
Sheriff Patrick Ray said that on December 21 Moore and Jones broke into a residence, outbuilding and a garage on Old Mill Hill Road, Dowelltown and stole several items including multiple tools, toolboxes, miscellaneous ammunition, arrowheads, etc with a total value at $6,220. Most of those items have been recovered.
After the arrest of Jones, the sheriff’s department stepped up patrols in the Old Mill Hill Road area where the burglary and theft occurred and got a break when a deputy spotted a vehicle being driven by Moore coming from behind the house. Jones was a passenger of the automobile. The officer got in pursuit of the vehicle, but it ran off the road into the woods. Both Moore and Jones jumped out of the automobile and fled. Although they had not broken into the house on this occasion, Sheriff Ray said it is believed Moore and Jones were about to do so but the deputy showing up foiled their plans. After Moore was picked up later, Sheriff Ray said he lied to officers writing in a statement that the vehicle he and Jones had been seen in and had abandoned in the woods was his father’s automobile and that it had been stolen by someone else. According to Sheriff Ray, Moore was trying to divert the investigation away from he and Jones.
40-year-old Angela Lynn Ayers of McMinnville is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver. Her bond is $3,500 and she will be in court February 3.
Sheriff Ray said that on January 16 a deputy responded to Jefferson Road due to a motor vehicle accident and upon arrival spoke with Ayers. After she gave the officer consent to search her handbag as requested before he transported her home due to the weather, the deputy found two baggies containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine. One of the bags weighed 1.5 grams and the other 0.5 grams. One of the bags also held a clear pipe with residue on it.
40-year-old Shana Jean Shahan of Watertown is charged with violation of an order of protection. Her bond is $3,500 and she will make a court appearance February 3. Sheriff Ray said that on January 20 while being booked into the jail, Shahan called her mother in violation of an active order of protection, Shahan has been ordered to have no contact with her mother.
55-year-old Louisa Patterson of Cookeville Highway, Smithville is charged with domestic assault. Her bond is $2,500 and she will make a court appearance February 10.
Sheriff Ray said that on January 22 a deputy was summoned to a residence on Lee Braswell Road due to a domestic violence call. Upon arrival the officer spoke with Patterson’s minor child who said that the two got into a physical altercation and that Patterson struck her on the right side of her face causing red marks and swelling. Patterson also pulled a clump of hair from the child’s head
