Its time for her to shine!

“Camilla” is in the spotlight this week as the WJLE/DeKalb Animal Coalition featured “Pet of the Week”.

A black lab mix, Camilla was one of four in a litter of puppies that came to the shelter and all her siblings have since been adopted.

“Camilla is now one and a half to two years old, fully grown, and weighs 45pounds. She is such a sweet and mellow girl and would be happy sitting in your lap or on a couch. She really needs a forever home,” said Shelter Director Megan Moore.

Stop by the animal shelter to meet Camilla and fill out an application to adopt her. For more information call 615-597-3647 (DOGS), or visit facebook. Adoption fees vary and all dogs and cats are spayed or neutered before being adopted.

The shelter is currently open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12-4 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 12 noon. Closed Wednesday.

Located at 186 Transfer Station Road behind Tenneco Automotive.

Are you interested in purchasing a Tiny House?

Students in the DCHS Residential and Commercial Construction Class have completed building their first Tiny House and it will soon be for sale to the public.

During Thursday night’s monthly meeting, the Board of Education will consider advertising to accept sealed bids with a possible bid opening at the March meeting.

The 8’ x 24’ Tiny House stands up to 13 feet and 6 inches and sets on a modified trailer that can be anchored or moved from place to place.

Accommodations in the Tiny House, although compact include a living room, kitchenette, bathroom, and sleeping space.

Specific features are as follows:

● Mobility by use of a trailer
● Central heat and air unit
● Cooktop
● Solid wood cherry cabinets
● Loft bedroom
● Cherry laminate flooring
● Bathroom with shower
● Metal roof
● Cedar wood siding ( stained and finished)
● 200 square feet including loft

In a letter to the Board, Brad Leach, DCHS Career and Technical Education Director is asking that the board establish a minimum bid for the Tiny House.

“Currently the materials and supplies costs used to construct the house is $22,530.75. I would like to recommend that we add 15% to this initial cost in order to reimburse the RCC account and make the starting bid $26,000.00. This reimbursement will be used to continue the building of future houses and other projects,” said Leach.

Other issues on the Board of Education agenda for Thursday night are as follows:

Consider and act on a contract with a School Psychologist

Consider and act on declaring surplus property and selling by sealed bids

Personnel report by the Director

Committee and School Reports

Consider and act on adopting state rates for in-state mileage, per diem, lodging, and US Conus.

Any other business that may properly come before the Board from a Board member.

A work session will be held prior to the meeting at 5:30 pm.
