The City of Smithville will have a new building inspector consultant starting Monday, July 1.

During Tuesday’s special meeting, the aldermen voted to employ Lewis Bryant of Cookeville to succeed Tim Staley, who is stepping down as building inspector.

Unlike Staley, Bryant will not draw a salary. The city will pay him a commission of 65% from funds collected through issuance of building related permits. Bryant, a certified building codes inspector, also works in a similar role for the City of Algood.

The course is certified, and the race is professionally timed by Scenic City Multisport of Chattanooga.

We also give a Masters award which is for the fastest male and female age 40 and older We present the top three awards in the age categories of nine and younger, and then go up from there in five year increments.
