Dukes of Hazzard’s Sonny Schroyer “Enos” to Appear at New Life Fall Fest

A couple of  good ole boys from Hazzard County will be in Smithville next weekend.

Sonny Shroyer (Enos) and Chris Hensel (Jeb Stewart Duke), cast members from the popular 1970s-80’s television series “The Dukes of Hazzard” will be the special guests during the 2nd annual New Life Fall Fest to be held Saturday, October 6 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the New Life Connection Center on South Congress Boulevard.

The day’s activities will begin with a “Duke’s” Parade from the High School to the New Life Connection Center starting at 9 a.m. Shroyer and Hensel will then sign autographs and pose for pictures.

The New Life Fall Fest will also feature a car show with trophies and awards to be given. Approximately 25 vendors will showcase products and information inside and outside the center. There will be music throughout the day from various church groups. A kids area will be set up with games, pony rides, face painting and more. Register for a free bicycle to be given away. Concessions will be available. And get an up close look at a Life Flight helicopter, ambulance, fire engine and police car.

It’s sure to be a fun filled day for the entire family.

The New Life Connection Center is located at 738 South Congress Boulevard, Smithville.




Scott Brown Overtakes Chad Kirby for First Place Among WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters (SHOW AIRS TODAY)

Scott Brown has overtaken Chad Kirby as leader of the pack among WJLE’s Fearless Forecasters for picking winners after the fourth week of the college football season.

Brown now has the best overall record at 39-20 four weeks into the season but Darrell Gill topped all forecasters for best record of the week at 11-4 followed by Scott Brown at 10-5. Will Graham, John Pryor, and Dewain Hendrixson each went 9-6 while Grant James of the James Gang, Ricky Atnip, Chad Kirby and last week’s guest Luke Willoughby each finished at 7-8 for the week.

Following Scott Brown in first place at 39-20 are Chad Kirby at 37-22, Darrell Gill 36-23, Will Graham, Ricky Atnip, John Pryor, Dewain Hendrixson, and the guests (Larry Green, Darvin Gill, Isaac Gray, & Luke Willoughby) are tied at 35-24 and Grant James of the James Gang is 33-26.

Two of the forecasters, Darrell Gill and Ricky Atnip hit their underdog picks last week. Gill got on the board with 14 points picking Texas Tech to defeat Oklahoma State. Tech won 41-17. Atnip picked Kentucky to knock off Mississippi State and got 9 points to make his overall total 15 for the season. Kentucky won 28-7.

Will Graham is the underdog points leader with 34 followed by Ricky Atnip with 15, Darrell Gill and Scott Brown each with 14, John Pryor 11.5, the James Gang 10, Chad Kirby 5, and Dewain Hendrixson with 4 points. The guests have no points.

Today (Thursday) the Forecasters will be picking winners in the following games:

Ohio State at Penn State, Stanford at Notre Dame, Florida State at Louisville, West Virginia at Texas Tech, Utah at Washington State, Virginia Tech at Duke, FAU at MTSU, Oregon at California, USC at Arizona, Virginia at N.C. State, Florida at Mississippi State, South Carolina at Kentucky, TSU at Vanderbilt, Tennessee at Georgia, and in the NFL the Tennessee Titans at Philadelphia.

Today’s special guest is Ronnie Goodwin.

Undefeated Saints in Quest of Conference Championship

The DeKalb Saints ran the table finishing the regular season 6-0 and atop the western division of the Middle Tennessee Football Conference.

The Saints are now on a quest for their conference championship and will be taking on the second place team of the league’s eastern division tonight in a play-off game (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in Smithville at the DCHS football field. Their opponent will either be Avery Trace or Overton County. Those two teams were scheduled to have played Wednesday night for second place in the east.

The winner of tonight’s game will advance to the conference championship game on Saturday, October 6 to be played in Baxter.

Fans are encouraged to fill the stadium tonight in support of the Saints. Get there early at 4:30 p.m. to cheer them on as they emerge from the spirit tunnel onto the field at around 5 p.m.
