New services are on the way for those who make use of the driver license self-service kiosk in the DeKalb County Clerk’s Office.
The Department of Safety and Homeland Security has announced that the new software update will begin at 6:00 PM CDT on Monday, September 14.
“These updates will be remotely pushed to the kiosk,” said County Clerk James L. (Jimmy) Poss.
“More DeKalb County residents have been taking advantage of the driver license/ID renewal kiosk in recent years. For example, 502 kiosk transactions were successfully completed in 2014 and that grew to 1,653 in 2019,” said Poss
“Although this machine is designed to be for self-service use, a majority of the kiosk transactions require assistance in order for them to be successfully completed and we often have to contact the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Office to resolve kiosk operation issues or to keep it maintained and in proper working order, ”he added.
New services that will be available after the upgrade are as follows:
1.Renew a Handgun Carry Permit (Enhanced Only)
2.Order a Duplicate of Handgun Carry Permit (Enhanced, Lifetime, and Concealed Carry)
3.Upgrade to a Lifetime Handgun Carry Permit (Enhanced Only)
4.Pay FULL Reinstatement Fees (Partial Payment Plan Fees are not Accepted via Kiosk)
5.Reissue driving privilege after Reinstating; (If Customer has an ID, he/she must visit a Driver Services Center for re-issuance of the DL)
6.Add Emergency Contacts
