Attorneys Stephanie Johnson, Bruce MacLeod, and Victor Gernt have an accumulated 20 years’ experience serving and protecting the Upper Cumberland region as Assistant District Attorneys and are now privileged to use that experience to provide for its legal needs.

“We would like to thank District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway for the opportunity to serve the people of the 13th Judicial District,” said the attorneys in a joint statement. “Our work as Assistant District Attorneys has been an honor and we look forward to bringing that same dedication to our clients in White, DeKalb and the surrounding counties.”

During their time in the prosecutor’s office, Johnson, MacLeod, & Gernt argued over 45 jury trials and handled cases ranging from simple possessions and DUI’s to homicides.

Johnson handled domestic violence, aggravated assault, stalking, harassment, and order of protection matters before being assigned lead Assistant District Attorney in DeKalb County where she managed all criminal offenses charged in DeKalb County.

MacLeod exclusively prosecuted DUI cases for two years including 10 DUI trials and the negotiation of over 1,000 DUI cases before his promotion to lead prosecutor in White County five years ago. In that role, he handled all criminal offenses charged in White County from homicide to traffic offenses. MacLeod was also Honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corp.

Gernt most recently served in a specialized role prosecuting child sexual abuse cases and has successfully handled countless cases ranging from theft to homicide, winning 15 jury trials. Gernt also serves as an adjunct professor for Vol State Community College, teaching the fundamentals of constitutional law in the legal process.

DeKalb Foster Children Need Help During the Holidays

November 4, 2019
By: Dwayne Page

Once again the Christmas season is approaching. As you know, not all children this year will take part in a celebration with their own families.

A child who has been taken out of abusive or neglectful homes may be sharing Christmas with a family of strangers. Many of these children may wonder if Santa Claus has received their new address and if he will be bringing gifts to them. This year, there are over 812 children in the Upper Cumberland who are in state’s custody and approximately 63 of those children are from DeKalb County and they need your help.

The Santa for all Season group is requesting assistance with funds to support these children during the season of giving. This provides assistance to foster and underprivileged children all year. Jodi Dennis has graciously agreed to partner with the Santa for all Season.

If you or your organization is willing to help provide funds, please contact Annette Greek or make checks payable to Santa for all Season and send to the following address:

Annette Greek, 1101 South College Street, Smithville, TN 37166.
